摘要: In a disk cartridge, a round portion with a circular arc shape whose center substantially coincides with that of a disk is formed at the forefront edge of the disk cartridge in the direction of insertion into a disk drive unit, and the remaining portion is a rectangular shape. The round portion preferably is formed so as to be decreased gradually in thickness toward its leading end. On the other hand, part of the components of the disk drive unit is arranged in an open space at corner portions at the forefront of the disk cartridge. A space in the disk drive unit thus can be utilized efficiently, whereby a small, thin disk drive unit having excellent operability and a disk cartridge permitting such a disk drive unit can be obtained.

摘要: An apparatus for detecting the surface flaws of a red-hot metal part includes a light source for illuminating a predetermined area on the surface of a moving red-hot metal part, an image pick-up device for picking-up the image on the metal part surface formed by the light rays from the light source, and a shutter disposed on the optical path between the light receiving surface of the pick-up device and the light source. The reflection energy from the metal part surface corresponding to the incident light rays from the light source is set up to be much larger than the radiation energy of the metal part per se. This relation of energy is set up by adjusting the illumination of the light source. The surface flaws are detected in such a manner that at least one of a series of video signals fed from the image pick-up device after the shutter release is selected as the optimum video signal for flaw detection, and properly selected.

摘要: There are provided a method and apparatus for noncontact measurement of a gauge of a high temperature material such as a red-hot steel slab, wherein the entire optical system including a light source, a filter and a detector is employed at wavelengths in the near-ultraviolet zone, preferably in the range 4,300 - 4,400 A, and a sampling mark corresponding to a reference projection point for an optical mark of wavelengths in the near-ultraviolet zone is established on the screen of a television receiver on which the optical mark is displayed in accordance with the output of a camera tube which receives the optical mark through a band-pass filter which transmits the wavelengths in the near-ultraviolet zone, whereby the light source and the camera tube are translated from the reference positions until the optical mark formed on a high temperature material to be measured coincides with the sampling mark so that the gauge of the high temperature material is measured in accordance with the distance covered by the parallel motion of the light source and the camera tube.

摘要: An optical disc drive device has a metallic exterior casing and an internal unit to be housed in the exterior casing. The internal unit further includes an optical pickup unit for performing recording or reproduction of information signals on an optical disc, and a printed wiring substrate on which a connector electrically connected to the optical pickup unit and serving for transmission and reception of electrical signals from and to external electronic equipment is mounted. The exterior casing has an opening for allowing the connector to be exposed outside, the printed wiring substrate has a ground pattern formed to surround the connector, and a fringe portion of the opening of the exterior casing and the ground pattern are in electrical contact with each other. Thus, radiation noise from around wiring lines contained in the optical disc drive device or the like is reduced.

摘要: A clamp plate retaining surface, a handling surface positioned outside the outer circumference of the clamp plate retaining surface, and an information surface outside the outer circumference of the handling surface are provided in a substrate. The handling surface is formed to be a slope with its outer circumferential side being inclined downward with respect to the information surface. The resin forming the inner circumferential side end of the handling surface is melted and deformed to form a projection part, so that a clamp plate can be retained. Since the top part of the slope is deformed, a large projection part can be formed. As a result, a thin small-diameter optical disk and substrate can be obtained.

摘要: A spare wheel protecting system, associated with a plurality of spare wheel holding devices each holding a spare wheel under the chassis of a motor vehicle, for preventing any such spare wheel from being stolen, comprises a socket and an interlocking axle which are provided in each such spare wheel holding device and engageable with each other to connect the operating handle and the driving shaft for the winch mechanism of each spare wheel holding device to permit rotation of the operating handle for rotating the driving shaft. Each socket has at least two engaging elements and each interlocking axle has a corresponding number of engaging elements each of which is complementary to a corresponding one of the engaging elements on a corresponding socket. The engaging elements on both the socket and the interlocking axle are so positioned as to establish their relative position which differs from one spare wheel holding device to another to permit connection of the interlocking axle on a particular spare wheel holding device only with the socket on that particular spare wheel holding device.

摘要: A transportation arrangement with spotlight projectors for illuminating the trunnions of a molten iron ladle for viewing by an operator when engaging a hoisting hook with the trunnion of the ladle. A spotlight projector employs a very high pressure mercury lamp as a light source and the beam of light from this light source is projected in the form of a bundle of parallel light rays of specific wavelengths through a collimator lens system. This system employs an elliptic reflecting mirror, a slit, a filter for transmitting specific wavelengths and a convex lens. The projected bundle of parallel light rays consists of a group of green and yellow bright-line spectra having a center wavelength of 5,000 A. The projector is designed to be mounted on an overhead travelling crane and its projection optical axis is adjustable.
