    Abstract: An imaging device including pixels having a photoelectric converter including a first and second electrode, a photoelectric conversion layer; a charge accumulation region electrically connected to the first electrode; and a signal detection circuit. The photoelectric converter is applied with a voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode, and the photoelectric converter has a characteristic, responsive to the voltage within a range from a first voltage to a second voltage, showing that a density of current passing between the first electrode and the second electrode when light is incident on the photoelectric conversion layer becomes substantially equal to that when no light is incident on the photoelectric conversion layer. A difference between the first voltage and the second voltage is 0.5 V or more, and the voltage supply circuit supplies a voltage between the first voltage and the second voltage to the second electrode in a non-exposure period.

The imaging device further including first voltage supply circuitry for supplying a first voltage that is positive and a second voltage that is less than the first voltage, the first voltage supply circuitry supplies the first voltage to the second electrode in a first period when the charge storage region accumulates the signal charge, and the first voltage supply circuitry supplies the second voltage to the second electrode in a second period different from the first period.

The imaging device further includes voltage supply circuitry coupled to the second electrode, which, in each of consecutive frame periods, supplies a first voltage two or more times to form exposure periods in which the first signal charge is collected by the first electrode, supplies a second voltage one or more times to form non-exposure periods that separate the exposure periods from each other, and supplies a third voltage in a period when the transistor outputs the signal, and the third voltage is the same between the consecutive frame periods.
