    Abstract: A dual-band antenna or coupled resonators, related wireless device applications, and methods of manufacturing the same are provided. Embodiments of the antenna have resonant frequencies in a lower 2-3 GHz frequency band and a higher 5-6 GHz frequency band range. The antenna has a high frequency portion that may be configured to operate as an inverted F antenna. The high frequency element is also positioned adjacent to a nearby parasitic element. In operation, the high frequency element and the parasitic element couple together and form a current loop, or loop antenna which is configured to resonate at a low frequency band.

    Abstract: A wireless device with a slot antenna includes one or more heat spreaders, a PCB with vias to allow current to flow through the PCB, various components disposed on the PCB, and a slot antenna compliment. By layering the components, e.g., heat spreaders, PCB, slot antenna compliment, etc. one or more slot antennas are formed from these components as to integrate the slot antennas into the existing structure. The formed slot antenna is a spiraled shape as to reduce the overall footprint of the slot antenna while keeping the required quarter-wavelength total effective length of an open-slot antenna. The formed slot antenna is wide enough to allow the antenna to accommodate a wide bandwidth and may include a plurality of steps to further allow for tuning of the length of the slot antenna. The wireless device can further include a housing enclosing the internal components.

    Abstract: An integrated metallic component includes a metallic body and an antenna. The metallic body is adapted to at least one of act as a heat exchanger and at least partially enclose electronic components on a Printed Circuit Board (PCB. The antenna includes an antenna element, a short wall, and an antenna feed leg. The antenna element is offset from the metallic body and includes a length extending along a perimeter of the metallic body. The short wall connects the antenna element to the metallic body. The antenna feed leg is offset from the short wall in a direction of the length of the antenna element and adapted to extend from the antenna element to the PCB and to form an electrical connection with an electrical contact for a Radio Frequency (RF) signal trace on the PCB.
