Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for wireless communications, wherein first number of transit antennas is advertised, but a different number of transmit antennas are actually used for transmission.
Abstract:
A throttling mechanism for downlink transmission control is disclosed, in which, in one aspect, a downlink low data-rate transmission may be received at a user equipment (UE). The UE may then measure a performance metric indicating performance of the downlink low data-rate transmission. The UE controls the downlink low data-rate transmission by dynamically adjusting the number of receiving antennas in use in response to comparison results of the performance metric and a threshold value.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus determines whether a channel quality indicator (CQI) is to be reported during any one of x subframes immediately after a start of a next on-duration, an on-duration being a duration over which a downlink control channel is monitored every discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle, and x being a number of subframes used to generate a CQI report, schedules a wake-up time for reporting the CQI when the CQI is to be reported during any one of the x subframes immediately after the start of the next on-duration, and reports the CQI based on a reference subframe. The CQI may be based on a last subframe of a previous DRX cycle active time, and reported at a first subframe of the next on-duration.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for determining a reference sequence and timing based on normalized correlations are described. One example method generally includes receiving, at a first antenna of an apparatus, a first signal comprising a reference sequence; receiving, at a second antenna of the apparatus, a second signal comprising the same reference sequence; sampling the first and second signals to form first and second signal sequences; correlating the first and second signal sequences with each of one or more candidate sequences for the reference sequence using normalization; and determining the reference sequence and timing for the first and second signals based on the normalized correlations.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for estimating a frequency offset of a local oscillator using primary synchronization signal (PSS) and secondary synchronization signal (SSS) while initially acquiring a long term evolution (LTE) signal. In certain aspects, a frequency offset estimation procedure may include PSS-based frequency offset estimation and SSS-based frequency offset refinement. The PSS-based frequency offset estimation may include determining a suitable reference PSS and using the ascertained reference PSS to estimate a PSS-based frequency offset. The SSS-based frequency offset refinement may include determining a suitable reference SSS using the PSS based frequency offset and using the ascertained reference SSS to refine PSS-based frequency offset from the PSS-based frequency offset estimation.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit assistance information to a base station to request an update or a modification to one or more communication parameters configured at the UE. Such communication parameters may include a quantity of uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layers, a quantity of downlink MIMO layers, a minimum scheduling offset, a maximum quantity of component carriers, or a maximum aggregated bandwidth for a secondary cell group (SCG). In some implementations, the UE may transmit the assistance information requesting the update or modification to one or more of such communication parameters based on detecting that the UE satisfies one or more triggering conditions or thresholds.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may initiate a broadcast or multicast (broadcast/multicast) application associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) while the UE is in a standalone mode for a second RAT; switch from the second RAT to the first RAT based at least in part on initiating the broadcast/multicast application; and switch from the first RAT to the second RAT based at least in part on failing to detect a communication associated with the broadcast/multicast application using the first RAT. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an apparatus may determine a time-averaged power limit of a set of antennas. The apparatus may modify an antenna switching configuration based at least in part on the time-averaged power limit. The apparatus may transmit a signal using an antenna, from the set of antennas, associated with the modified antenna switching configuration, wherein the antenna is associated with a higher power limit than one or more other antennas. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for receive chain selection at a user equipment (UE) with efficient switching between a reduced number of receive chains and an increased number of receive chains for downlink communications based on conditions at the UE. A UE may adaptively adjust the number of active receive chains based on downlink grant activity, channel conditions, network parameters, or any combinations thereof. An estimator block at the UE may determine to adjust the number of receive chains based on a number of downlink grants within one or more time periods. In some cases, grants for an amount of data that exceeds a threshold may be qualified in order to be counted at the estimation block. Further, a transient state may be provided where the UE may maintain a higher number of active receive chains until UE feedback is provided.
