Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for achieving adaptive channel state information (CSI) feedback rate in multi-user communication systems. A rate by which CSI feedback can be transmitted from each user station of a wireless system to a serving access point may be adjusted based on evolution of a channel between that user station and the access point.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and/or devices are provided that permit data transmissions over unused television channels. A method operational in a receiver device, includes monitoring one or more repurposed channels within a television broadcast frequency spectrum for data waveforms, wherein waveforms of different bandwidths coexist within the one or more repurposed channels, and at least a larger waveform has a first bandwidth larger than a channel bandwidth for each repurposed channel. The method also includes receiving a waveform over a repurposed channel from among the one or more repurposed channels, wherein the received waveform has a second bandwidth smaller than the channel bandwidth. The method further includes processing the received waveform by applying a downclocking factor to a clock of the receiver device that causes the receiver device to process the received waveform according to the second bandwidth to obtain a data payload from the received waveform.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure present a technique for enabling a receiver to detect mode of transmission of a signal based on a common field transmitted to all the receivers. The proposed technique includes frame structure in which information about the transmission mode is transmitted in a first portion of a SIG field to all the receivers.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for the coexistence of 1 MHz and 2 MHz operation modes within a wireless communication system in accordance with IEEE 802.11ah, for example. One example method generally includes scanning a plurality of channel pairs, wherein each of the channel pairs comprises a first channel having a first channel designation and a second channel having a second channel designation; determining, based on the scan, a set of open channels from the plurality of channel pairs in which no other apparatus is operating; selecting a primary channel based on the determination; and transmitting using the selected primary channel. The selection of the primary channel involves channel selection rules disclosed herein.
Abstract:
A method for multi-user multiple-input and multiple-output (MU-MIMO) sniffing by an electronic device is described. The method includes detecting multiple client second control fields concurrently. The method also includes detecting multiple client data fields concurrently. The method additionally includes obtaining data based on the multiple client data fields.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides techniques for rate adaptation under congestion and latency constraints. The approaches described herein focus on aspects of latency, reliability, and power consumption instead of the traditional aspect of throughput. In an example, a method for rate adaptation is disclosed. The method may include determining whether to transmit a new packet or a retry packet. The method may also include reducing a maximum rate for a rate search in response to determining to transmit the retry packet. The method may further include transmitting the retry packet based on the reduced maximum rate.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some systems (e.g., Wi-Fi systems), a transmitting device such as an access point (AP) or mobile station (STA), may identify a number of spatial streams for a data transmission that is less than a number of transmit antennas, and may transmit a packet over a channel. In a first implementation, the packet may be formatted in a multi-user frame format, with a number of long training field (LTF) symbols equal to the number of transmit antennas. In a second implementation, the packet may be a null data packet (NDP), and the device may transmit a separate data packet. In a third implementation, the packet may be formatted in single-user frame format with a modified LTF. A receiving device may receive the packet, and may perform channel estimation and power amplifier (PA) distortion cancellation based on the received packet.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, methods, devices and systems for including signaling regarding enhanced features of new wireless communication protocols. The signaling may be included in various portions of a physical layer preamble of a wireless transmission. In some implementations, the physical layer preamble may be used to indicate puncturing of subbands or content channels that may carry further signaling in accordance with preamble signaling designs of this disclosure. The physical layer preamble signaling be parallelized for different subchannels of a wireless channel that consists of multiple subchannels. Some implementations of the physical layer preambles may be used to multiplex different types of wireless local area network communications into different subsets of the plurality of subchannels of the wireless channel.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) protocol in a wireless local area network (WLAN). A first WLAN device may generate a first HARQ packet for transmission to a second WLAN device. The first WLAN device may determine a first basic service set (BSS) indicator and a second BSS indicator for a BSS associated with the first WLAN device and the second WLAN device. The first BSS indicator and the second BSS indicator may be indicative of a BSS identifier (BSSID) of the BSS. The first WLAN device may output the first HARQ packet for transmission to the second WLAN device. The first HARQ packet may include the first BSS indicator and the second BSS indicator in one or more fields of a physical layer (PHY) header of the first HARQ packet.
