Abstract: A video decoder can be configured to determine that a block of video data is encoded using a bi-directional inter prediction mode; determine that the block of video data is encoded using a bi-directional optical flow (BIO) process; inter predict the block of video data according to the bi-directional inter prediction mode; perform the BIO process for the block, wherein performing the BIO process for the block comprises determining a single motion vector refinement for a group of pixels in the block, wherein the group of pixels comprises at least two pixels; refine the group of pixels based on the single motion vector refinement; and output a BIO refined predictive block of video data comprising the refined group of pixels.

Abstract: Techniques are described for signaling information used to generate three-dimensional (3D) color lookup tables for color gamut scalability in multi-layer video coding. A lower layer of video data may include color data in a first color gamut and a higher layer of the video data may include color data in a second color gamut. To generate inter-layer reference pictures, a video encoder and/or video decoder performs color prediction to convert the color data of a reference picture in the first color gamut to the second color gamut. The video coder may perform color prediction using a 3D lookup table. According to the techniques, a video encoder may encode partition information and/or color values of a 3D lookup table generated for color gamut scalability. A video decoder may decode the partition information and/or color values to generate the 3D lookup table in order to perform color gamut scalability.

Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for encoding and decoding video data. For example, a method of encoding video data including a plurality of pictures is described. The method includes performing intra-picture prediction on a block of one of the pictures to generate a prediction unit. Performing the intra-picture prediction includes selecting a reference block for intra-block copy prediction of a coding tree unit (CTU). The reference block is selected from a plurality of encoded blocks, and blocks within the CTU encoded with bi-prediction are excluded from selection as the reference block. Performing the intra-picture prediction further includes performing intra-block copy prediction with the selected reference block to generate the prediction unit. The method also includes generating syntax elements encoding the prediction unit based on the performed intra-picture prediction.

Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for encoding and decoding video data. For example, a method of encoding video data includes obtaining video data at an encoder, and determining to perform intra-picture prediction on the video data, using intra-block copy prediction, to generate the plurality of encoded video pictures. The method also includes performing the intra-picture prediction on the video data using the intra-block copy prediction, and, in response to determining to perform the intra-picture prediction on the video data using the intra-block copy prediction, disabling at least one of inter-picture bi-prediction or inter-picture uni-prediction for the plurality of encoded video pictures. The method also includes generating the plurality of encoded video pictures based on the received video data according to the performed intra-block copy prediction.

Abstract: A method of coding video data includes upsampling at least a portion of a reference layer picture to an upsampled picture having an upsampled picture size. The upsampled picture size has a horizontal upsampled picture size and a vertical upsampled picture size. At least one of the horizontal or vertical upsampled picture sizes may be different than a horizontal picture size or vertical picture size, respectively, of an enhancement layer picture. In addition, position information associated with the upsampled picture may be signaled. An inter-layer reference picture may be generated based on the upsampled picture and the position information.

Abstract: A device for decoding video data is configured to perform interpolation filtering using an N-tap filter to generate an interpolated search space for a first block of video data; obtain a first predictive block in the interpolated search space; determine that a second block of video data is encoded using a bi-directional inter prediction mode and a bi-directional optical flow (BIO) process; perform an inter prediction process for the second block of video data using the bi-directional inter prediction mode to determine a second predictive block; perform the BIO process on the second predictive block to determine a BIO-refined version of the second predictive block, wherein a number of reference samples used for calculating intermediate values for BIO offsets is limited to a region of (W+N−1)×(H+N−1) integer samples, wherein W and H correspond to a width and height of the second block in integer samples.

Abstract: Techniques are described for using an inter-intra-prediction block. A video coder may generate a first prediction block according to an intra-prediction mode and generate a second prediction block according to an inter-prediction mode. The video coder may weighted combine, such as based on the intra-prediction mode, the two prediction blocks to generate an inter-intra-prediction block (e.g., final prediction block). In some examples, an inter-intra candidate is identified in a list of candidate motion vector predictors, and an inter-intra-prediction block is used based on identification of the inter-intra candidate in the list of candidate motion vector predictors.
