Abstract: The disclosed subject matter comprises a design management component that facilitates managing and storing information, including respective customized information of respective entities and/or relating to objects, projects, controllers, or industrial automation systems within a project file or controller. Abstract: A system for generating electronic cam profiles mimicking the action of mechanical cams operates on a variety of different cam profile inputs and converts them into a common form, for example, expressed as a polynomial spline and modifies that common form by predetermined adjustment relationships, for example by scaling coefficients of the common form cam profile according to desired changes in cam function and/or limitations in dynamic cam values input by a user. The common form of the cam profile may be obtained from a table of cam values by spline interpolation of those data values.

Abstract: A state machine management component that executes on an edge device within an industrial facility is capable of discovering state machines defined on industrial controllers and translating the state machine definitions to information models that allow the state machines to be discovered and utilized by remote client applications. The edge-level information models allow the client applications to render or consume the state machine data generated by the controller, graphically render the state machines, submit commands, or set values, to the controller as state machine commands via the edge device. Abstract: A system and method for online simulation of a controlled machine or process utilizes a simplified model of the system dynamics and may be used with hardware in the loop to evaluate performance of the controlled system or with software in the loop to perform commissioning of the control program prior to completion of the mechanical installation. The simplified model includes dominant order dynamics of the controlled system such as the inertia of the system and a damping factor. Further, the online simulation is scheduled to execute at an update rate slower than the update rate of the control loops within the motor drive. The simplified model and reduced update rate reduce the computational burden on the processor such that the simulation may be performed either on the industrial controller or on the motor drive.
