Abstract:
11 Beta -ALKOXY- Delta 4-GONENES OF THE FORMULA WHEREIN R and X are alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R1 is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and acyl of an organic carboxylic acid of 1 to 18 carbon atoms and Y and Y'' are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl and the enolic esters thereof with an organic carboxylic acid of 1 to 18 carbon atoms which possess anti-androgenic and anti-estrogenic activity, their preparation and novel intermediates.

WHEREIN R IS ALKYL OF 1 TO 4 CARBON ATOMS AND R'' IS SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF HYDROGEN AND METHYL WITH THE PROVISO THAT R IS OTHER THAN METHYL WHEN R'' IS HYDROGEN WHICH HAVE A STRONG PROGESTOMIMETIC ACTIVITY AND PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION AND INTERMEDIATES FORMED THEREIN.
