    摘要: A print interface system includes a printer integrated in combination with a sheet handling system such as a mailpiece inserter. The print interface system facilitates the handling of sheet material in various operating modes, including conventional printing, duplex printing, and mailpiece creation modes. The system includes an interface module having upper and lower housing segments defining first and second feed paths. A first feed path directs sheet material to a stacking surface of the upper housing segment and a second feed path directs sheet material to a downstream module of the sheet handling device. A repositionable diverter bifurcates the path exiting the printer to direct sheet material to one of the two feed paths. Furthermore, the upper housing segment is pivotally mounted to the lower housing segment to provide internal access to one of the first and second feed paths.

    摘要: A vacuum roller assembly adapted to singulate a sheet from a stack of sheets. The vacuum roller assembly comprising a stationary inner plenum having a substantially linear plenum slot disposed in fluid communication with the vacuum source and a rotating vacuum roller disposed over the stationary inner plenum and rotating about a rotational axis. The vacuum roller includes a plurality of apertures disposed in fluid communication with the substantially linear plenum slot and about the periphery in at least one region of the roller. Furthermore, each of the apertures is substantially slot-shaped and defines a major axis. The major axis is off-axis with respect to the substantially liner plenum slot of the inner plenum to reduce audible noise levels produced by the rotating vacuum roller as air flows through each rotating aperture into the stationary linear plenum slot.

The tray of a first type may be a shingle feed tray and the tray of a second type may be a stacks feed tray. With the shingle feed tray the first position for the first and the second nudger rollers are where each nudger roller engages each media item in a shingles tray when each such media item is positioned in the shingles tray to exit the shingles tray and to be moved from the shingles tray into said feeder. With the stacks feed tray the second position for the first and the second nudger rollers are where the first nudger roller is positioned out of engagement with media items in a stacks tray and the second nudger rollers is positioned to each engage each media item in the stacks tray when each such media item is positioned in said stacks tray to exit the stacks tray and to be moved from the stacks tray into said feeder.

    摘要: An envelope throat opening mechanism for an envelope inserting machine includes a pair of envelope throat opening claw assemblies mounted adjacent an envelope inserting position for opening the outer ends of an envelope disposed in the envelope inserting position to permit insert material to be inserted into the envelope. An envelope throat opening tongue assembly is also disposed adjacent the envelope inserting position and in substantial alignment with the center of an envelope, the tongue assembly having a tongue mounted therein for movement into the throat of the envelope adjacent the center thereof to ensure that the center portion of the throat is opened sufficiently to permit the insert material to be inserted into the envelope. There is means for driving the claw assemblies and the tongue assembly in a timed sequence with the arrival of an envelope at the inserting position, and with the claw assemblies operating asynchronously with respect to the mounting means for the tongue to move the claws into the throat of the envelope in advance of the tongue entering the throat, so that both the outer ends of the envelope and the center portion thereof are effectively opened by the claws and the tongue respectively.

    摘要: A low-headroom popcorn popper, particularly for under-cabinet mounting, employs a charging drawer alongside an intermediate chute for entering kernels of corn into a popping chamber. The corn remains in the charging drawer until a charging slide is pushed to permit the corn to enter the popping chamber. A horizontal air path between a blower and a plenum surrounding the popping chamber further reduces headroom. Air enters the perimeter of the popping chamber from the plenum in a horizontal swirling motion produced by slanted louvers. A door closes an open bottom of the popping chamber to permit removal of unpopped kernels of corn and other debris therefrom. Heater elements are disposed in the plenum chamber non-uniformly in angle about the popping chamber to attain a substantially uniform air temperature entering the popping chamber. Separation of popped corn from unpopped kernels of corn is attained using two cylindrical sections connected by a diverging conical section. Popped corn rises upward on the air stream until it passes over a dam, whereupon it falls down a discharge chute. An electrical control system controls a WAIT light and a READY light to indicate to a user the time that an optimum popping temperature exists in the popping chamber. An overtemperature sensor deenergizes the heater, blower and the ready light, and energizes the WAIT light when an unsafe temperature is approached.

An envelope stripper and moistener portion of the mailing machine can include a jam release mechanism that provides for a release handle to unlock an upper transport and swing the transport and related portions of the mailing machine into an upright position leaving a transport deck and blade exposed, and thereby facilitating the clearing of a jammed envelope or other mailing piece. The sheet feeding device can include a feeder portion, an upper transport portion and a transport deck. The jam clearing device can include an upper transport frame pivotally mounted to the sheet feeding device via an upper transport pivot shaft and a latching means for securing the upper transport frame in a home position.

    摘要: The present invention is directed generally to a folder apparatus for sheets, and more particularly an improved knife folder. In an embodiment, the folder comprises an inducer which is repositionable between a first position and second position, and an idler roller. In the first position the idler roller and a fold roller form a nip. The inducer further comprises a blade adjacent to the idler roller. A first side of the blade and another fold roller define a portion of the feed path adjacent to the another fold roller. When the inducer is in a second position an auxiliary feed path is formed and the sheet may travel along the auxiliary feed path and subsequently be buckled by the blade when the inducer returns to the first position.
