摘要: A liquid crystal display includes a substrate, and a pixel electrode disposed on the substrate. The pixel electrode includes a plurality of micro-branches which are spaced apart from each other and extend side by side with each other, where a micro-slit is defined between the micro-branches, and a stem part which is connected to each of the micro-branches, where an indentation pattern is defined by a cutout portion extending into the stem part, and at least one of two points connecting the indentation pattern and the micro-slit is located on a slit boundary line at which the micro-slit and the stem part meet each other.

摘要: A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a first substrate; a gate line formed on the first substrate; an insulating layer formed on the gate line; and a first subpixel electrode and a second subpixel electrode that are formed on the insulating layer. Each of the first subpixel electrode and the second, subpixel electrode includes a first subregion and a second subregion. At least one of the first subregion and the second subregion includes a vertical stem, a horizontal stem extending from a middle of the vertical stem, and a plurality of minute branches laterally extending in a diagonal direction from the horizontal stem. The plurality of minute branches laterally extending from the horizontal stem are alternately branched with reference to the horizontal stem.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate; a shielding electrode disposed on the first substrate and which extends in a first direction; a pixel electrode disposed on a same layer as the shielding electrode and insulated from the shielding electrode; a common electrode which overlaps the shielding electrode and the pixel electrode in a thickness direction of the first substrate; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the common electrode and the pixel and shielding electrodes. The liquid crystal layer includes a first liquid crystal molecule disposed in a first region between the shielding electrode and the pixel electrode, and the first liquid crystal molecule is pre-tilted to have an azimuthal angle in a range of about zero degree to about +45 degrees or in a range of about −45 degrees to about zero degree, based on the first direction.
