Abstract: A method of decoding multi-layer video includes decoding a first layer picture, storing the decoded first layer picture in a decoded picture buffer (DPB), and marking the first layer picture as a short-term reference picture; obtaining interlayer reference picture set (RPS) information regarding a second layer picture having a same first picture order count (POC) as the first layer picture; marking the first layer picture, which is marked as the short-term reference picture, as a long-term reference picture, based on the interlayer RPS information; performing interlayer prediction with respect to the second layer picture with reference to the first layer picture; decoding the second layer picture based on a result of performing the interlayer prediction; and, after the second layer picture is decoded, marking the first layer picture, which is marked as the long-term reference picture, as a short-term reference picture.

Abstract: An inter-layer video decoding method is described including reconstructing a color image and a depth image of a first layer based on encoding information about the color image and the depth image of the first layer obtained from a bitstream. When it is determined that a prediction mode of a current block of a second layer image to be decoded is a view synthesized prediction mode based on an image synthesized from the first layer image a determination is made whether to perform luminance compensation on the second layer current block to be reconstructed. Use of the view synthesized prediction mode to reconstruct the second layer current block depends on the luminance compensation determination.

Abstract: Provided is an interlayer video decoding method according to an embodiment including obtaining prediction-mode information of a current block of a depth image from a bitstream, generating a prediction block of the current block on the basis of the prediction-mode information, and decoding the depth image by using the prediction block. The obtaining of the prediction-mode information of the current block from the bitstream includes receiving a first flag, a second flag, and a third flag, wherein the first flag indicates whether prediction of the current block by dividing the current block into two or more partitions according to a pattern is permitted, the second flag indicates whether the depth image permits blocks of the depth image to be predicted by dividing the blocks into two or more partitions by using a wedgelet, and the third flag indicates whether the depth image permits the blocks of the depth image to be predicted by dividing the blocks into two or more partitions by using a contour; and receiving a fourth flag from the bitstream when predetermined conditions determined on the basis of the first to third flags are satisfied, wherein the fourth flag represents information regarding a type of a method of dividing the current block into two or more partitions according to the pattern.
