    摘要: An optical element having a high capture efficiency and rim intensity is provided. The optical element includes a central axis, a first curved surface extending in the transverse direction with respect to the central axis, a second curved surface extending in the transverse direction with respect to the central axis, and a peripheral surface extending between the first curved surface and the second curved surface. Light is refracted from the time light is incident on the first curved surface to the time the light is emitted from the second curved surface. Thereby, a light intensity distribution of the light emitted from the second curved surface and a light intensity distribution of the light incident on the first curved surface are different from each other, and a rim intensity improvement rate R, which is a rate of the rim intensity of the emitted light with respect to the rim intensity of the incident light is 1.07 or more and 1.5 or less, in which the rim intensity represents a ratio of the central intensity to the peripheral intensity.

    摘要: An optical disk apparatus includes a photodetector divided into eight segments which receive the laser beam reflected from the optical disk and produce signals based on the laser beam sport thereon. In this apparatus, these eight segments are combined in several patterns for the recorded information reproduction, the tracking error detection, and the focus error detection, respectively. For the recorded information reproduction, eight segments are used as combined in three segment cells RC1, RC2, and RC3 which extend in a direction parallel to each other such that the segment cell RC1 is in center and is sandwitched by other segment cell RC2 and RC3. The segment cells RC1, RC2, and RC3 are located perpendicular to the recording track of the optical disk and produce three signals C, R, and L indicative of the laser beam intensity of the laser beam spot thereon, respectively. Thus obtained signals C is multiplied by a constant K and then added to the other signals R and L. By selecting suitable value as the constant K, the crosstalk component in the reproduced signal can be reduced.

Further, it makes possible to provide a system with higher precision and higher reliability.

On an incident plane for the light beam, there are formed a center region (A1), an intermediate region (A2) surrounding the center region (A1), and a peripheral region (A3) surrounding the intermediate region (A2). A diffraction grating (11) is provided on the lens surface of the intermediate region (A2). Between the intermediate region (A2) and the center region (A1), and also between the intermediate region (A2) and the peripheral region (A3), stepped portions (12) are provided for causing an advance or a delay of a phase of a light beam passing through the intermediate region (A2) with respect to the phases of the light beams passing through the center region (A1) and the peripheral region (A3). The stepped portions (12) are formed so that a value of a tertiary spherical aberration on the recording surface (17b) of the second optical information recording medium becomes a value that makes a jitter value of a reproduction signal from the second optical information recording medium not more than 15%.

    摘要: A light beam reflected by an information medium is split by a diffraction optical system into first diffraction light and second diffraction light, which is not a complex conjugate wave of the first diffraction light, in a predetermined energy distribution ratio. The first diffraction light enters a first photodetector (195) of a photodetector and is used for reading out data information recorded on the information medium, while the second diffraction light enters second and third photodetectors (194, 195) and is used for obtaining a servo error signal. With this optical head device, the area of the first photodetector can be reduced, thus allowing a high-speed reproduction of a data signal. Further, the first photodetector becomes less susceptible to stray light. Moreover, the number of head amplifiers, which are needed for detecting the data signal, decreases, and the S/N ratio improves.
