A cooperative caching method and apparatus for reducing data access time and data acquisition cost in a mobile communication system are provided. The cooperative caching method of a local base station in a mobile communication system using caches of base stations cooperatively connected with each other includes determining, when a request for data is received from a client, whether the data is stored in the cache of the local base station; sending, to a home base station, upon determining that the data is not stored in the cache, a request for the data; acquiring the data from one of the home base station and a server according to whether the data is stored in the home base station; and serving the data to the client.

A method for a mobile access point P) in a Wireless environment may comprise the steps of: receiving, from a station, a message indicating that uplink traffic exists, through a proximity communication path; switching a hotspot from an idle mode to an active mode, in response to the received message, transmitting, to the station, a response message to the received message through the proximity communication path, in response to the switching to the active mode; and receiving, from the station, the uplink traffic through a path on the hotspot.

A method and apparatus for application synchronization are provided. The method for application synchronization in a terminal includes receiving a first alarm registration request, determining whether a data transmission and reception action of an application corresponding to the first alarm registration request is detected within a preset time after a trigger time of the first alarm registration request, and estimating, when a data transmission and reception action of the application corresponding to the first alarm registration request is detected within the preset time after the trigger time of the first alarm registration request, the period of a repetitive synchronization activity associated with the first alarm registration request, and adjusting the execution time of the repetitive synchronization activity according to the period estimation result.

A connection close-related packet transmission method and apparatus is provided for improving power saving efficiency of a power-constrained mobile terminal. The connection close-related packet transmission method includes establishing a radio connection with a server; determining whether a preconfigured connection close timeout elapses without connection activity after the connection establishment; buffering, when the connection close timeout elapses, a connection close-related packet; and transmitting, when another packet transmission is predicted, the connection-related packet to the server. The connection close-related packet transmission method and apparatus is advantageous in power saving efficiency of a power-constrained mobile terminal.

Various embodiments of the disclosure relate to a payment method using biometric authentication, and an electronic device thereof. The electronic device includes a communication module configured to provide communication with a server, a processor operatively coupled to the communication module, and a memory operatively coupled to the processor and configured to store biometric information. The memory may store instructions, when executed, causing the processor to, when registered for a first time use, generate a parameter for biometric authentication verification and an encrypted password for password authentication verification and transmit the generated parameter and password to the server, in order to register, with the server, biometric authentication information for biometric authentication verification and a password for password authentication, when a payment is made, use at least one of the biometric authentication and the password authentication to authenticate a user, and when it is necessary to change the biometric authentication information registered with the server, register new biometric authentication information with the server in the process of the payment.
