Accordingly, illegally recycled supplies can be prevented from being installed or used. Thus, stability in the use of the image forming apparatus can be guaranteed, durability of the image forming apparatus can be lengthened, and printing quality deterioration can be prevented.
Abstract:
Provided is a method of controlling a fusing speed of an image forming apparatus. Determination is made as to whether a sheet of paper to be printed is a special-purpose sheet. Determination is made as to whether a length 1 of the sheet of paper is shorter than a distance L1 between a second transfer roller and a fusing unit. Determination is also made as to whether the length 1 of the sheet of paper is shorter than a distance L0 between a first transfer roller and the second transfer roller. Determination is made as to whether the length 1 of the sheet of paper is longer than the distance L0 between the first transfer roller and the second transfer roller.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a printed circuit board comprising a contact terminal, which prevents a poor contact and reduces a manufacturing cost, and an image forming apparatus having the same. The printed circuit board comprises a circuit part for controlling and processing an operation of electronic appliance, and a large-area contact terminal formed by a group of small-area terminals for electric connection with external device. The small-area terminals can be formed in various types, respectively having regular size and shape and being distanced a predetermined interval. Accordingly, unevenness of the large-area contact terminal surface caused by soldering is prevented since a plurality of small-area terminals constitute a unit contact terminal of over a predetermined size. Therefore, quality of contact with external terminal improves. Further, manufacturing cost is reduced, and the manufacturing process becomes simple.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for managing consumables of an image forming apparatus widely used in printers, multi-function printers, and so on. The apparatus of the present invention includes memory devices provided in the consumables for writing and reading data related to the consumables and for managing the consumables. As such the present invention uses less signal lines for a development cartridge, informs a user to refill the consumables, and is less sensitive to noise due to the digital management of consumables.
Abstract:
A method of compensating for image quality controls a toner reproduction curve (TRC). The toner reproduction curve TRC &PHgr;(k) measured by a color toner density sensor is compared with a target TRC &PHgr;R to obtain a deviation &Dgr;&PHgr;. A variation &Dgr;VB of a developer bias VB is calculated from a Jacobian matrix (JB) of a measured developer bias VB to calculate a new developer bias VBN and determining a measured grid voltage VG as a new grid voltage VGN if the deviation (&Dgr;&PHgr;) is greater than a tolerance &Dgr;&PHgr;T. A backplating vector VBP is obtained from the grid voltage VGN and the developer bias VBN. The backplating vector VBP is compared with a critical value VT to set control parameters VGN and VBN and control the TRC &PHgr;. Thus, noise effects on the image quality are minimized to provide an output image closest to an input image quality so as to improve the image quality.
Abstract:
An optical scanning system for a printer. The optical scanning system includes: an optical scanning unit installed to scan light onto a circulating photoreceptor web; a photodetector installed for receiving scanning light emitted from the optical scanning unit; a defective edge area detector for comparing pulse signals output in sequence from the photodetector to determine whether the edge of the photoreceptor web has a defect, and outputting an edge defect signal if a defective area is detected; an estimated pulse width calculator for outputting a predetermined estimated pulse width, and updating the estimated pulse width for the next line image scanning using the signal from the defective edge area detector, the predetermined estimated pulse width, and the pulse signal from the photodetector; a line scanning synchronous signal generator for generating a line scanning synchronous signal in synchronicity with the predetermined estimated pulse width; and an optical scanning unit driver for driving the optical scanning unit such that the optical scanning unit emits image information light onto the photoreceptor web synchronized with the line scanning synchronous signal. By the optical scanning system and a method for adjusting the start point of image scanning, errors in writing an image can be suppressed, which are caused by defects at the edge of the photoreceptor web.
Abstract:
An apparatus for and a method of controlling a high voltage in an image forming apparatus using the high voltage with a high alternating current voltage superimposed on a high direct current voltage. The apparatus includes: a high alternating current voltage output unit outputting the high alternating current voltage; a high direct current voltage output unit outputting the high direct current voltage; and a controlling unit controlling the high alternating current voltage output unit and the high direct current voltage output unit such that the high alternating current voltage is output before the high direct current voltage when the high voltage is required for printing.
Abstract:
A printing apparatus and method of detecting a color registration error are provided. A detecting unit detects registration marks comprising a plurality of toner marks. The registration marks are formed on a transfer medium to detect color registration errors of color images. Each toner mark of the registration marks includes a first component inclined with respect to a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction, a second component spaced apart from the first component in the sub-scanning direction, and inclined with respect to the first component, and a third component parallel to one of the first component and the second component.
