    摘要： A remotely controlled device receives a first command from a remote control (RC) but does not execute the command. Instead, the remotely controlled device waits to receive the first command within a threshold period, and if not received twice within the period, the first command is then executed. However, the first command is not executed if it is received twice, at which point the name of the corresponding RC key is announced. A second double command caused by a second double press of the same key on the RC causes the remotely controlled device to announce the function of the key. The logic may be executed in the RC as well as or in lieu of executing it in the remotely controlled device.

    摘要： A TV without a touch screen can nonetheless execute applications designed for mobile devices that assume a touch screen user interface (UI) by a “dumb” remote control with up/down, left/right, select buttons, or by a remote control with a touch pad, or by a remote control application running on a mobile device with a touch-screen that communicates with the TV. In all three scenarios, the TV recognizes that it is running in a special remote control mode and with a corresponding remote control application running on the TV that is able to intercept key presses and finger swipes and translate them to touch screen commands that are input to a touch screen-enabled software application running on the TV.

    摘要： Social network relationships are “aged” in that if a social network friend has not communicated with a user's social network site in a certain amount of time, then the friend is downgraded to “acquaintance” level automatically. One result may be that the “acquaintance” does not see certain postings to the website. The “aging” setting can be programmable on the social networking site so that users can elect to employ the “aging” or not. The downgrading of social standing of people in social network allows a more streamlined and private way to communicate with those with whom the user has an on-going social network relationship. Similarly, based on aging, “close friends” can be automatically downgraded to just “friends”. When the aging happens, the aged friend may be cut off from certain postings, mimicking a natural way that relationships evolve.

In this way, search and playback of content, previously made available through monolithic web application (web app) based Electronic Program Guides (EPG) over a home network, are distributed without losing the programmable and graphics components provided when playing that same content via the monolithic web app EPG.
