Abstract:
An adjustable door latch that enables one to adjust its length without removing any functionality from other areas of the door latch assembly. The improved door latch assembly includes a strike plate, adjustment head, adjustment stem, resilient member, and housing. The improved door latch utilizes a threaded adjustment head, which is screwed into an adjustment stem. The adjustment stem has a threaded aperture located on the front surface of a circular disc. The circular disc has at least one rib, which fits into the groove of a drum, this configuration prevents rotation of the circular disc when adjustment is necessary. The adjustment member and stem have apertures that allow one to thread the spindle of a door knob through the door latch assembly and to the other door knob.
Abstract:
A light generating system including a base comprising a bottom surface comprising a nonmechanical attachment structure and a light generating device rotatably mounted to the base about an axis.
Abstract:
A utility knife has a blade carrier defining a blade support surface movably mounted in a housing between retracted and extended positions. A catch is mounted on the blade carrier and is movable between a first position engagable with a blade seated on the blade carrier and substantially preventing the blade from moving relative to the blade carrier, and a second position spaced away from the blade located on the blade carrier and permitting removal of the blade from the blade carrier. An actuator is mounted on the blade carrier and is operable to move the blade carrier between the retracted and extended positions to, in turn, move a blade located on the blade carrier between retracted and extended positions, and move the catch between the first and second positions to release a blade from the blade carrier. The housing has a nose portion that defines the blade aperture and is made of a more wear-resistant material than the other portions of the housing. A sheet material spare blade holder is mounted within the housing and defines a fold, a support portion located on one side of the fold, and a biased retaining portion located on the other side of the fold for receiving spare blades therebetween.
Abstract:
An electrical outlet receptacle includes a neutral side having a neutral blade opening and a neutral port aligned with the neutral blade opening. The neutral port is configured to receive a neutral blade of an electrical plug. A neutral contact is aligned with the neutral port. The receptacle further includes a hot side having a hot blade opening and a hot port aligned with the hot blade opening. The hot port is configured to receive a hot blade of an electrical plug. A hot contact is aligned with the hot port. A connector bar having a neutral tab extending into the neutral side of the receptacle is located between the neutral port and the neutral contact, and a hot tab extending into the hot side of the receptacle is located between the hot port and the hot contact. The neutral tab and the hot tab are offset from each other.
Abstract:
An opening mechanism having a cover assembly, a base mounting plate, and a lever member. The lever member has a first arm and a second arm, which pivot from a first position to a second position. The movement of the arms from the first position to the second position causes one of the arms to move a closure from a closed position to an open position.
Abstract:
An adjustable roller apparatus has a housing and a roller ball, rotatably mounted in the housing. There is also a base adjuster that is adapted to be moved from a first position to a second position and where one of the first and second positions of the base adjuster is a retracted position that permits the roller ball to contact a surface and rotate on the surface and the other position of the base adjuster is an extended position whereby the base adjuster contacts the surface.
Abstract:
A tape measure housing is comprised of two asymmetrical housing portions. The first housing portion comprises a receptacle in which the tape measure components are located. The second housing portion comprises a cover that encloses the first portion along a seam that is asymmetrically disposed on the assembled housing. The housing portions are weighted such that the center of gravity of the housing is oriented so that the housing will assume a predetermined orientation when dropped from a height.
Abstract:
A tape measure blade having improved wear characteristics, a tape measure utilizing such a blade, and a method of manufacturing such a blade are provided. A clear film made of polyester, nylon or other flexible, strong and relatively thin material is provided with the measurement indicia, markings or other material printed on one side thereof. The film is attached to the blade with the printed side contacting and secured to the blade such that the side of the film without printing is the side of the film exposed to the environment. Because the film is transparent the printed indicia are visible through the film.
Abstract:
An adjustable roller apparatus is described. The apparatus has a housing and a roller ball, rotatably mounted in the housing.
Abstract:
A handle for a utility knife includes a housing made up of two or more portions. In one embodiment, a manually operable member for use in releasing the blade is retained to at least one portion of the housing and does not become separated from the housing when the housing is in an open state. In another embodiment, a catch for engaging the blade extends from a support member that is slidably movable within the housing. In another embodiment, the housing is formed of metal and a nose portion is formed of a metal that is more wear resistant than the rest of the housing, in order to improve the durability of the nose portion. In another embodiment, a bail screw is captured on a first housing portion and threadedly engageable with a second housing portion for (i) releasably securing the first and second housing portions in a fully closed state and, in turn, releasably securing a blade within the blade opening, and (ii) manually positioning at least one of the first and second housing portions in at least one intermediate state between the fully closed state and a fully opened state to, in turn, permit the blade to be manually moved through the blade opening.
