    摘要: A system and method for halftoning for multi-pass rendering of an image in which different pixel locations are rendered in each pass which reduces the effects of inter-pass mis-registration errors. The method of halftoning includes restricting a substantial majority of the pixels turned on to render a tone to the minimum number of passes required to produce the tone. The halftoning method can include generating a stochastic halftone turn-on sequence and re-ordering the turn-on sequence. The halftoning method can also use error diffusion, adding a zero mean bias signal to either the image input pixels or the threshold values. The halftoning method is applicable to color or black and white rendering.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for processing a digital image to determine whether the image includes a region of differential gloss (which would yield a differential gloss when that digital image is printed into hardcopy). The method includes identifying whether an input digital image has a periodic characteristic which is indicative of a cluster screen halftoned digital image and, if so, determining a correlation between first and second filters and halftone structures of the identified digital image. The second filter has a different polarization from the first filter. The first and second filters are selected to enable a region of differential gloss in the identified digital image to be identified, based on the determined correlations. Where such a region or regions are detected, a representation of the differential gloss image may be displayed and/or another action automatically initiated, such as restricting printing of the image.

    摘要: The present invention relates to providing a designer with the tools for the manipulation of differential gloss in halftoned images. A special mask layer is provided for the rendering of desired glossmark image data. The desired glossmark image data is used to select between two halftones with anisotropic structure characteristics which are significantly different in orientation while remaining identical in density. This selection is made for each corresponding portion of primary image data. In this way, a halftone image of the primary image is generated with glossmarks imbedded therein which will display differential gloss without the need for special toners or paper.

    摘要: Methods and systems for utilizing conjugate cluster halftone screens to embed patterns or images as invisible watermarks into both digital halftone image files and corresponding printed documents are disclosed. In general, two or more two-conjugate halftone screens can be configured to provide a basic information carrier for embedding a digital watermark into a document. Thereafter, one or more clusters can be created from the two-conjugate halftone screens, wherein such clusters include the same centroid position relative to a grid defined by fundamental halftone frequencies. Two halftone patterns can then be blended from the two-conjugate halftone screens in a cluster-to-cluster basis so that virtually no loss of image quality occurs in comparison with an output of either the two-conjugate halftone screens, thereby permitting the digital watermark to be embedded into the document utilizing the two-conjugate halftone screens.

    摘要: A method and system of designing a digital halftoning screen for forming images on output sheets according to a set of image signals. The method generates a halftone line screen having multiple levels, each level having multiple line segments, each line segment having an equal pre-determined number of elements. The method stochastically assigns threshold values to pixels corresponding to a first element within the multiple line segments of a first level and assigns a same threshold value to a pixel corresponding to a single level to create a first element stochastic fill sequence. The method then assigns threshold values to pixels corresponding to a first element within the multiple line segments of the remaining levels of the halftone line screen according to the first element stochastic fill sequence.

The halftone outputs produced by stochastically clustered pixel screens of the present invention (also referred to herein as "stoclustic" screens) are clustered about arbitrarily or otherwise specified centers. According to one embodiment of the present invention, one step in the present invention requires that the locations of the set of stochastically distributed black and white cluster centers must be determined.
