摘要: A method and apparatus for generating and authenticating documents having stored electrostatic pattern information provides security with respect to the authenticity of documents. A liquid medium including a plurality of electrostatic monopoles is applied to the surface of a document, which embeds a permanent electrostatic pattern in the document. The pattern is then readable by an electrostatic scanner. The monopoles may be associated with differing colors, including black and white, may be transparent or have a neutral color. The patterns may embed data, certificates or shapes. The monopoles may provide a watermark or visible image. The apparatus may be a pen or printer, and may include multiple selectable vessels containing ink and/or electrostatic liquid medium of one or both charge states. Visible features of the document can be compared with the detected pattern, or the pattern may be compared to a database or decrypted with a key.

摘要: A security document or token in the form of an identity card (10) is provided which incorporates a biometric or photographic image (24) provided in a transparent region or window (18) such that the image is substantially distinguishable from both sides of the card (10). Regions of partial or varying opacity (20, 30) are provided adjacent to or surround the window (18). A portion (27) of the photographic image (24) extends into at least one region of partial or varying opacity (20), and another portion (25) of the image extends into the substantially opaque region (22) surrounding the window (18) and the regions (20, 30). The portion (27) of the image which extends into the region of partial or varying opacity is at least partly visible from both sides of the document in transmission, but only visible from one side of the document in reflection. The regions of partial or varying opacity (22) and the photographic image (24) may be applied to a base support or substrate (32) in such a manner that removal of the image (24) from the substrate (32) results in removal or damage of the regions of partial or varying opacity (20, 30).

摘要: A method for monitoring an individual credit card account particularly during a predetermined monitoring period. The steps of the method include the steps of setting up a form, preferably on a piece of erasable material of wallet card size. A series of numerals is provided on the card adapted to accommodate the step of being checked so as to identify a particular amount owing on the account. A series of individual purchase amounts is identified with a series or group of spaces opposite to, or related to, each monetary amount for the step of entry of indicia identifying a purchase of that amount or approximately that amount. A masking member is provided to accommodate the step of covering the spaces associated with one or more of the monetary purchase amounts to remind and warn the user of his intent not to make purchases in those amounts in order to remain within a predetermined budget. Further groups or series of spaces is provided for the step of entering indications of amounts of payments made during the monitoring period and the total of the balance owing at any particular time or, on the other hand, the remaining balance of the user' s credit limit that has not been obligated.

摘要: A forgery-proof information carrier comprises an insert (1) having a passport photo (7), data about the owner and other security features, and plastics films (5, 6) which are joined in an undetachable manner to the insert (1), and is distinguished in that a metal mask (2) is provided as an edge protection at least in the region of the edges of the information carrier. In a further development to increase the security against forgeries, the metal mask (2) may be inwardly provided with irregular edges (3) or with openings (4).

摘要: A forgery-proof flat article, for example, for the production of banking cards, credit cards, and the like, is provided with a security feature analogous to a watermark and is made of thermoplastic and elastomeric synthetic resins based on transparent, translucent, or colored sheets made by extrusion, calendering, blow-molding, or spread coating, or composite sheets therefrom, with an application of a colorant, capable of migrating, to the surface in the presence of a crosslinkable component in the flat article and/or in the colorant application. The colorant application, upon reaching the desired migration depth of the applied colorant, is fixed in the flat article by a crosslinking reaction. This flat article, by the use of two differently quickly migrating colorants, has a coloring showing on both sides of the flat article the security feature in congruence, this security feature appearing on the topside in the color of the more rapidly migrating colorant and, when the article is viewed while held up to the light, appearing in the form of the mixed color.Special effects are obtained in one embodiment of a composite flat article wherein one sheet side, treated with two different colorants, is bonded by laminating to a further sheet. After penetration of the colorants and fixation, the security feature is visible on both sides of the sheet and recognizable in the mixed color when the article is held up to the light and viewed in this way.

摘要: A card is disclosed which is made of a thermoplastic material and having visually recognizable, internal safety markings. The card comprises a first sheet of a transparent thermoplastic material and a second sheet of an opaque thermoplastic material. The second sheet has an inner surface provided with a relief structure such that the varying thickness of the opaque material will influence the local absorption of transmitted light. The first sheet has an inner surface provided with a corresponding negative relief structure. The first and second sheets are laminated together with their inner faces in contact to form an interface. Thus, when viewing the card in transmitted light, the relief structure is visually recognizable as a varying brightness due to varying absorption of the light transmitted through the opaque sheet.
