Abstract:
The invention provides a display apparatus having a temperature sensor and a step-up circuit generating a drive voltage of the display apparatus by stepping up a power source voltage. The temperature sensor provides temperature data indicative of the temperature of the display panel with a reduced measurement error without limiting the operation of the step-up circuit. To do so, in view of the fact that the step-up circuit has alternating active state in which the circuit is stepping up a source voltage to output a required step-up voltage and inactive state in which no stepping operation is made, the temperature sensor is adapted to obtain temperature data while the step-up circuit is inactive. The temperature data obtained is supplied to a temperature compensation means for changing the drive condition setting value that define the drive condition of the display panel to compensate for the temperature change.
Abstract:
A portable information apparatus 20 having communications tools is provided with a switch 22a for instructing enablement/disenablement of transmission functions of the wireless transmission/reception section 21 of the portable information apparatus 20. The portable information apparatus 20, upon receipt of a transmission prohibition signal from an prohibition signal transmitter 31 installed in a public facility 30, determines whether the transmission functions must be disenabled and automatically controls enablement/disenablement of the transmission functions. The portable information apparatus is thus automatically turned off even when the carrier of the apparatus has forgotten to turn off the transmission functions, thereby allowing the carrier to perform necessary operations not involving transmission of electromagnetic waves without causing a nuisance to others.
Abstract:
Technology for controlling image display according to the state of a viewer wearing eyeglasses to view 3D images is provided. When an inclined angle of eyeglasses is in a predetermined range, an image display device alternately displays a left-eye image and a right-eye image. When the inclined angle of the eyeglasses exceeds the predetermined range, the image display device does not switch the left-eye image with the right-eye image. For example, the image display device displays 2D images. Optical shutters of the eyeglasses are synchronized with the left-eye image and the right-eye image. When the image display device does not switch the left-eye image with the right-eye image, the optical shutters are both open.
Abstract:
A display driving device adapted to output a column driving voltage to a sequentially selected one of row terminals of a display panel during a respective row selection period. The row selection period includes an accessing period for accessing a display memory and an idling period in which no access is made. At least a portion of the idling period may be provided prior to the accessing period. The idling period may be regulated in accordance with the display mode chosen.

Abstract:
An LCD driver compares an image signal with a count of a counter repeatedly counting a clock. Based on the result of the comparison, the LCD driver outputs pulses each having a duty factor in accord with the image signal. When the count is not between first and second predetermined numbers, the frequency of the clock supplied to the counter is switched from a fundamental frequency to a low-frequency, thereby controlling the width of a drive voltage of a liquid crystal display cell and correcting the image signal in association with the S-shape characteristic of optical transmittance of the liquid crystal display cell. This LCD driver is advantageously simple in structure.
Abstract:
An IC chip has externally and selectively cuttable members F1-F3, which can be cut, or cut open, at more than one cuttable points C1 and C2. So long as at least one of the multiple cuttable points C1 and C2 remains cut open, the cuttable member works as a cut member. Thus, a cut member has an exceedingly small probability that it is short-circuited by particles in an ACF or by dust.
