    摘要: An area lighting unit has an electroluminescent device, a light scattering portion on a side of a light exit surface of the electroluminescent device, and a light covering portion on a side of a light exit surface of the light scattering portion. The light converging portion includes first and second layered optical sheets, each having a planar light incidence portion through which light enters and a light exit portion through which the light exits. The light exit portion of each optical sheet forms parallel prismatic protrusions, each having a vertex angle of 90 degrees to 105 degrees. The optical sheets each are so arranged that the light incidence portion is oriented to the electroluminescent device and a direction in which the protrusions of the first optical sheet are arranged is perpendicular to a direction in which the protrusions of the second optical sheet are arranged.

    摘要: An electroluminescence element includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a light emission layer arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode. The first electrode is formed of a material having a higher volume resistivity than that of the material of the second electrode. A connector portion electrically connects a feeder portion to the first electrode. The resistance value of the connector portion differs in correspondence with a position at which the connector portion connects the feeder portion to the first electrode. The brightness distribution of the electroluminescence element is thus adjusted to a desired state.

    摘要: A lighting device comprising a transparent substrate, an electroluminescent device and a light redirecting member. The transparent substrate has an incident surface, an end face and a light emitting surface opposite to the incident surface. The electroluminescent device is disposed on the incident surface and comprises a light emitting portion. The light redirecting member is disposed in a portion of the transparent substrate for redirecting light entering into the transparent substrate from the incident surface and which is transmitted toward at least one of said incident surface and said end face, to said light emitting surface. The incident surface and the light emitting surface each comprises a first area which overlaps said light emitting portion and a second area which does not overlap said light emitting portion. The portion of said transparent substrate is defined at least by the second areas of the incident surface and the light emitting surface.

    摘要: A light guiding plate guides light from a light source to illuminate a liquid crystal cell. A reflector reflects light from the light source. A first surface and a second surface selectively transmits or reflects light. A first region is formed on the first surface at a location that is relatively near the light source. The first region includes a first inclined face and a second inclined face. The first inclined face reflects light from the light source to guide light to the reflector. The second inclined face reflects light from the light source to the second surface so that the second surface emits light. A second region is formed on the first surface at a location that is relatively far from the light source. The second region includes a third inclined face and a fourth inclined face. The third inclined face reflects light from the light source to the second surface so that the second surface emits light. The fourth inclined face reflects light reflected by the reflector to the second surface so that the second surface emits light.
