    Abstract: This application relates to a novel process for producing imidoisocyanates by reacting an anhydride of a polycarboxylic acid and an aromatic polyisocyanate in the presence of a catalyst combination consisting of a certain phosphorus or boron compound and a dialkyl sulfoxide. In a preferred embodiment of this invention (when the anhydride is a halogenated anhydride), the imido isocyanates are novel compositions of matter which are useful as components of polyurethane-forming formulations that can be cured by conventional amine and tin catalysts to produce flame-resistant polyurethane foams.
