Abstract: A tool for removing a rivet with a hole and a head from a first article that is attached to a second article includes a frame, an anvil, a push pin, and a driver. The frame includes first and second arms. The anvil includes a tube with an opening and is disposed on the first arm of the frame. The push pin is slidably engaged with the second arm of the frame and is aligned coaxially with the anvil. The push pin is configured to engage with a hole in a tail end of the rivet in order to remove the rivet from the first article. The driver is attached to the frame and is configured to move the push pin in a linear direction towards the anvil in order to push the rivet out of engagement with the first article and such that the first and second articles become unattached.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a first device coupled to a bearing compartment structure, a second device coupled to an engine case structure, and a controller. The controller is configured to: issue a command to one of the first device or the second device to generate a signal, obtain data from the other of the one of the first device or the second device, where the data is based on the signal, process the data to determine that a skew exists between the bearing compartment structure and the engine case structure in an amount that is greater than a threshold, identify at least one torqueing device to activate based on processing the data, and cause the at least one torqueing device to activate to cause the bearing compartment structure and the engine case structure to align within the threshold amount.

Abstract: A spanner nut for a bearing compartment of an engine with a bearing stack on a first shaft that rotates about an engine centerline includes a body, a piloting hook connected to the body, a first threaded portion, and a channel formed by the piloting hook. The piloting hook includes first and second extensions. The first extension is connected to and extends radially inward from the body. The second extension is connected to and extends in an axial direction from the first extension. The second extension includes a radially outward facing surface. The first threaded portion is configured to engage with a second threaded portion on the end of the first shaft. The channel is configured to receive the end of the first shaft. The piloting hook is configured to draw the second extension radially outward as the spanner nut is compressed.
