    摘要: A method and apparatus for adaptively filtering an input image are provided. The method includes dividing an input image into a plurality of color domains according to a distribution of colors in the input image, respectively calculating a plurality of filter coefficients for the color domains, and adaptively filtering the color domains using the respective filter coefficients. The apparatus includes a domain classification unit which divides an input image into a plurality of color domains according to a distribution of colors in the input image, a filter coefficient calculation unit which respectively calculates a plurality of filter coefficients for the color domains, and a filtering unit which respectively filters the color domains using the filter coefficients. Accordingly, it is possible to enhance picture quality by addressing the problem of limited texture representation capabilities of existing filtering methods and apparatuses especially for memory color domains.

The gamut mapping apparatus and method enable accurate reproduction of image data having components having undergone total internal reflection falling outside the scRGB color space or high chroma components in the scRGB color space.

    摘要: A gamut mapping method and apparatus are provided which allow a reproduction device to properly represent colors that are not within a gamut boundary of the reproduction device but within in a gamut boundary of a source device. The gamut mapping method includes (a) setting a cut-off rate for a predetermined color component and defining a cut-off region on a standard color circle; (b) determining a gamut of a reproduction device using color data which is part of basic color data and corresponds to colors that do not belong to the cut-off region; (c) modifying a gamut of a source device according to the determined gamut of the reproduction device; (d) determining a mapping relationship between the modified gamut of the source device and the determined gamut of the reproduction device; and (e) creating a mapping table based on the determined mapping relationship.

In this method, first, a reference brightness of the display device is determined according to a type of display device. Thereafter, information about locations where the display device is used is received from the user, and illuminance values of the display device corresponding to brightness stages are set based on the reference brightness and the location information. Then, a reference brightness is converted into each of the illuminance values corresponding to each of the brightness stages. The converted images with the illumination values corresponding to the brightness stages are displayed to the user, and an image that has a brightness value nearest to the brightness of ambient lighting is selected, and the brightness value of the selected image is determined as the brightness of ambient lighting.
