Abstract: In an embodiment a method for measuring ambient light includes successively synchronizing optical signal acquisition phases with extinction phases of a disruptive light source, wherein the disruptive light source periodically provides illumination phases and the extinction phases, accumulating, in each acquisition phase, photo-generated charges by at least one photosensitive pixel comprising a pinned photodiode, wherein an area of the pinned photodiode is less than or equal to 1/10 of an area of the at least one photosensitive pixel, transferring, for each pixel, the accumulated photo-generated charges to a sensing node, converting, for each pixel, the transferred charges to a voltage at a voltage node and converting, for each pixel, the transferred charges to a digital number.

Abstract: A method is for detecting one or more objects in a detection zone using a time-of-flight sensor. The method includes emitting optical radiation via the emission circuitry of the sensor and subsequently capturing the reflected optical radiation using the reception circuitry. This captured radiation is quantified in terms of photons, and measurement circuitry determines both the amount of these photons and the distance from the sensor to the object(s). An analysis of the photon count, combined with the calculated distance, is used to determine the presence or absence of objects within the detection zone.

Abstract: A method for operating an electronic device includes while a display is in low power mode, detecting based on data collected by a time of flight (ToF) sensor, a movable object within a field of view of the electronic device; in response to the detecting initiating a period of detection having a plurality of frames, the period of detection being a time period over which a distance value indicative of a distance between the movable object and the display is detected; for each of the plurality of frames, changing the distance value to reflect whether the movable object is moving near or further from the electronic device; detecting that the distance value after the period of detection is less than a threshold distance value indicative of the movable object approaching the display; if the distance value is less than the threshold distance value, waking up the display.

Abstract: A system includes lighting devices coupled to output supply pins, a microcontroller circuit, and a driver circuit, which receives data therefrom, and switches coupled in series to the lighting devices. The driver circuit includes output supply pins and selectively propagates a supply voltage to the output supply pins to provide respective pulse-width modulated supply signals at the output supply pins. The driver circuit computes duty-cycle values of the pulse-width modulated supply signals as a function of the data received from the microcontroller circuit. The lighting devices include at least one subset coupled to the same output supply pin. The microcontroller individually controls the switches via respective control signals to individually adjust a brightness of the lighting devices in the at least one subset of lighting devices.

Abstract: A testing tool includes a clock generation circuit generating a test clock and outputting the test clock via a test clock output pad, data processing circuitry clocked by the test clock, and data output circuitry receiving data output from the data processing circuitry and outputting the data via an input/output (IO) pad, the data output circuitry being clocked by the test clock. The testing tool also includes a programmable delay circuit generating a delayed version of the test clock, and data input circuitry receiving data input via the IO pad, the data input circuitry clocked by the delayed version of the test clock. The delayed version of the test clock is delayed to compensate for delay between transmission of a pulse of the test clock via the test clock output pad to an external computer and receipt of the data input from the external computer via the IO pad.

Abstract: A flip flop includes a data input, a clock input, a test chain input, a test chain output, a monitoring circuit, and an alert transmission circuit. The monitoring circuit is adapted to generate an alert if the time between arrival of a data bit and a clock edge is less than a threshold. The alert transmission circuit is adapted to apply during a monitoring phase an alert level to the test chain output in the event of an alert generated by the monitoring circuit, and to apply the alert level to the test chain output when an alert level is received at the test chain input.
