    摘要: In order to obtain very close control of the flowrate of a fluid through a conduit against a predetermined desired flowrate, a pulse generator is employed to produce pulses at a frequency representing the desired flowrate, and a flowmeter issues similar pulses representing the actual flowrate. First and second difference pulse streams are digitally derived to represent the difference by which the actual flowrate either exceeds or falls short of the desired flowrate, and these difference pulse streams are applied, respectively, to count down and count up inputs to an up/down counter. The instantaneous count held within the up/down counter is translated to an analog signal by a digital-to-analog converter, and the analog signal is applied to the input of a two-wire transmitter. The two-wire transmitter drives a valve-actuating motor, such as a d-c torquemotor, to correct the valve position as necessary to obtain and maintain the desired flowrate.

    摘要: A process for making terephthalic acid which comprises electrolyzing an aqueous solution of potassium acid terephthalate, preferably in the presence of a potassium salt of an acid stronger than terephthalic acid. In another embodiment of the invention terephthalonitrile is converted to terephthalic acid by hydrolyzing terephthalonitrile in an aqueous medium containing dipotassium terephthalate, potassium bicarbonate, and potassium hydroxide, stripping ammonia and carbon dioxide from the hydrolyzed product, adding carbon dioxide to the stripped hydrolysis product to precipitate monopotassium terephthalate, and electrolyzing said monopotassium terephthalate in the presence of an acid stronger than terephthalic acid to precipitate terephthalic acid and separating said terephthalic acid product.

    摘要: Mixed tetrahydropolycyclopentadienes are isomerized in the presence of anhydrous aluminum trichloride to form an additive suitable for use with a high energy missile fuel. The amount of aluminum trichloride present is such that the weight ratio of trichloride to the tetrahydropolydiene is in the range between from about 0.005 to about 0.75. Also the isomerization involves an inert solvent and is at a temperature between from about -20.degree. C to about 25.degree. C. Also anhydrous hydrogen chloride is present to facilitate the isomerization.
