摘要： This disclosure depicts method and structure for applying a very thin layer of electrically conductive, light-reflective metal such as aluminum to the phosphor screen of a cathode ray tube. More particularly, there is disclosed the application of such a metal layer by the transfer of a metal layer formed on a strippable substrate directly to a phosphor layer on the inner surface of a cathode ray tube faceplate. The metal layer is adhered to the phosphor layer by a freezing operation. The substrate is then stripped off. The remaining photosensitized phosphor binder and a release agent which may be used to release the metal layer from the substrate, if present, are removed by operations including baking of the faceplate to drive off volatile substances.

摘要： The screen of a color cathode-ray tube is formed by a photographic method in which a photosensitive coating applied to the screen area is exposed through the apertures of a shadow mask. This disclosure places particular emphasis on novel shadow mask constructions which provide for screening of graded size phosphor dots (or black surround grille openings) with a mask having apertures of uniform size, or conversely, uniform size phosphor dots (or black surround grille openings) with a mask having graded size apertures. More particularly, a removable coating is applied around the mask apertures which varies in thickness from the center toward the edges of the mask. After the screening is completed, the coating is removed from the apertures, permitting the mask to be used as the color selection electrode of the tube.

摘要： This disclosure depicts method and apparatus for applying a coating of phosphor or other CRT screen material to the concave inside surface of a curved skirtless cathode ray tube front panel. A panel is conveyed with its concave surface facing upwardly along a predetermined path through a liquid curtain of the coating material. The path along which the panel is conveyed is caused to have a curvature through the curtain which is so related to the curvature of the panel as to produce a high degree of uniformity in the coating received by the panel.

摘要： An apparatus for automatically inserting and retrieving cathode ray tube face panels from a panel processor which includes a programmer and an endless conveyor that carries a plurality of panel supporting carts. A prime mover controlled by the programmer steps the carts through a series of work stations, including an index station, disposed along a closed path. The apparatus comprises a platen having a pair of panel holders successively displaceable between the index station and a loading station. Means are provided for effecting a first reciprocation of the panel holder at the index station into engagement with an indexed cart to insert an unprocessed panel therein and thereafter, upon a second reciprocation to retrieve a processed panel from a subsequently indexed cart. Finally, platen driving means are provided for displacing the panel holder with the retrieved panel to the loading station while simultaneously displacing the other panel holder to the index station to insert an unprocessed panel into the subsequently indexed cart.

摘要： A television tuner has a UHF section comprising a stamped metal subchassis having a plurality of resonant circuit elements whose electrical characteristics are adjustable by deforming portions thereof and a thick film integrated circuit VHF section. A metal housing supports the stamped metal subchassis and thick film integrated circuit and a metal shield encloses the stamped chassis and integrated circuit. The thick film integrated circuit includes an RF amplifier, mixer, local oscillatr, and an input filter network which attenuates signals between 88 and 108 MHz as well as those at or near the IF frequency of 45.75 MHz. The input filter network can be aligned while coupled to the RF amplifier input network.

摘要： Apparatus for applying Aquadag coating to the funnel of a cathode ray tube envelope comprises means for supporting the envelope with the sealing land exposed, and means for spraying an Aquadag solution upon the wall of the funnel. A deflector is interposed between the spray means and the edge of the funnel to intercept that portion of the spray directed toward that edge while another member is positioned adjacent the inside wall of the funnel to establish an orifice between that member and that portion of the funnel wall normal to the sealing land. The envelope supporting means is rotated, relative to the spray means, to apply a uniform coat of Aquadag upon the funnel while an air pump establishes a pressure differential between the inside of the envelope and the outside to generate a flow of air across the sealing land of the funnel, up through the orifice and into the funnel to prevent deposit of coating material upon the sealing land.

摘要： The screen of a shadow-mask tri-color picture tube has a series of optically continuous red filters not only covering screen areas assigned to red but also extending into abutting relation with screen areas assigned to blue and green. These latter areas have deposits of the appropriate color phosphor but the blue phosphor is pigmented. Another embodiment features a generally similar application of filter characteristics to the red and blue phosphor deposits of a black-surround tube further to improve brightness by enlarging the phosphor deposits and, at the same time, improving screen anti-reflectance.
