Abstract:
A spin-on type filter assembly for lubricating oil includes a cast aluminum housing which contains a replaceable annular filter element. The filter element is resiliently retained in the housing by compressing a gasket thereon with a threaded end cap which closes one end of the housing. The housing includes a unitary front end wall with a plurality of inlet ports surrounding an axially positioned outlet port. In order to provide a secure coupling with the engine, an externally and internally threaded steel stud is threadably mounted in the outlet port for threadably coupling with the engine.
Abstract:
This invention is a device for holding a flexible fine mesh fluid filter 30 in a container 12 while a fluid, such as paint, is being drawn from the container by spraying equipment 8. More specifically, the invention comprises a ring of flexible material 20 and a purality, preferably two, of elongate flexible members 18, ends of which are secured to the flexible ring, with their intermediate parts depending from the said ring, and secured together where they cross at their intermediate depending portions, and together with the flexible ring, forming a pocket over which a fine mesh fabric fluid filter is to be positioned and held. When so assembled in use the suction pipe of the spraying equipment with its filter is received within the pocket and held in the container to filter the paint, or other fluids as it is drawn from the container. In the best and preferred form of the invention, all of the parts above mentioned are in the form of coil springs, but it should not be considered so limited thereto.
Abstract:
A spin-on fluid filter of the type having a hollow, cylindrical filter element enclosed within an outer container and an end plate, is provided with a one-piece, combination anti-drainback and relief valve. The valve includes an axially movable cylindrical sleeve, one end thereof being disposed within the filter element, and the other end thereof normally engaging the end plate radially inwardly of the inlet ports and radially outwardly of the outlet port formed in the end plate. A resilient annular seal extends from the sleeve to normally engage the end plate radially outwardly of the inlet ports. A spring is disposed within the filter element for normally urging the cylindrical sleeve downwardly into engagement with the end plate. The diameters of the end portions of the spring are preferably smaller than the diameter of the central portion thereof.
Abstract:
An improved filter for pressurized painting equipment formed of a cylindrical filter element and carried in a cylindrical housing and base having an inlet and an outlet. The filter element has solid end caps and is made up of one or two layers of wire mesh and is supported by a helical spring interior of the wire mesh.
Abstract:
A milk filter sock composed of a folded sheet of spun bonded, randomly oriented, continuous, synthetic fibers. The longitudinal edges of the sheet are joined together by an ultrasonic bond, and one pair of end edges of the folded sheet are also joined by an ultrasonic bond to form an open-end tubular sock. The spun bonded fibrous material provides increased strength for the sock and more uniform filtering characteristics. In addition, the filter sock has less weight and bulk than prior art filter socks.
