摘要： The invention provides an improved web guidance mechanism in which the location of a web is detected and any deviation from a desired path is corrected without causing damage to the web material, for example a filter cloth. The improved mechanism includes two tracker units 10 having a pair of rollers 12, 14 defining a nip for an edge margin of a web. The lower roller 14 is acted on by an inflatable actuator 28 in the form of bellows and operative to raise or lower the roller 14 with respect to the upper roller 12. This is achieved by pivotally mounting a bracket 16, which carries the roller 14, and attaching thereto a bar 24 which rests via a contact plate 26 on the actuator 28. The actuator 28 is controlled by a sensor positioned adjacent to an edge of the web and operative to detect the presence or absence of the edge of the web on its desired path. In a preferred embodiment the sensor controls a pneumatic valve operable to inflate or deflate the actuator 28.

摘要： A filter apparatus comprising a gravitional extraction section 1 and a high pressure section 3. In the high pressure section 3 there is a rotatable drum 35 around which a pair of filter bands 4,5 on carrier belts 6,7 are advanced with means for applying pressure to the belts to squeeze the bands and belts together to expel water from the sludge 13 through open-topped channels formed in the carrier belts. An intermediate section 2 for applying medium pressure to the sludge may be provided and the bands and belts are continuous. Various special features like cleaning, different pressure loading systems, and driving means and other modifications are described but the principle is to progressively increase the pressure by advancing the sludge between the belt and carrier assembly and to arrange for the water expelled to be diverted through the channels 8,9 in the carrier belts with no frictional drag between the respective bands and belts as they advance at the same speed.

[Also in Division B8] A conveyor belt, for carrying and draining wet sand or gravel, has a slotted rubber strip 12 overlaying and spaced from its flat central portion 11, forming drainage ducts 15 from which water leaves by spaced outlets 18. The edges of strip 12 are welded or bonded to the belt, leaving gullies 17 traversing the joints, whereby water from the side regions of the belt beyond strip 12 (Fig. 1, not shown) enters ducts 15. Gullies 17 may be preformed in strip 12 and/or belt 10, or formed by spaced prongs during the welding, or formed in separate strips which are bonded between belt 10 and strip 12. Ducts 15 are formed by one or more longitudinal ribs 14 or by spaced blocks, and are divided transversely by ,partitions 20, located adjacent outlets 18 to prevent water by-passing the outlets. Outlets may be located on both sides of each partition to avoid selective assembly of a belt on a longitudinal incline. Slits 21 may be made in strip 12 by blades projecting from a press platen, and opened to the desired extent by stretching strip 12 during bonding to belt 10 (Fig. 6, not shown). Under edges of slits may be chamfered by a conical abrasive wheel. Alternatively, strip 12 comprises a series of transverse sections bonded together at spaced locations to form a similar structure, gullies 17 being likewise formed. As the belt passes over end rollers, the slits open out and washing water is applied. A gutter below the upper run of the belt prevents water from reaching the return run.

The area of contact between the belts 1 and 5 over the suction boxes 7 preferably amounts to half or more of the top surface of the belt 5. The belts 1, 5 are of rubber reinforced with fabric, and one or more filter cloths 11 are provided.
