摘要: A six-pack of bottles is provided by encircling mid portions of the bottles with a retainer and engaging a paper board carrier and retainer beneath the bottle caps. The paper board carrier has rows of apertures formed therein for receiving the upper ends of the bottles, and is assembled with the bottles by conveyor and guide means which advance the bottles and carrier continuously along a path of travel, initially fold sections of the carrier along lines intersecting the apertures for opening the apertures to receive the upper ends of the bottles and then reversely fold the portions of the carriers for closing the apertures and securing the carrier with respect to the bottles.

摘要: 831,950. Cartons. SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES Inc. Jan. 30, 1956 [July 20, 1955], No. 2965/56. Class 18. [Also in Group XVIII] A carton has one or more internal packaging pieces having cut-outs or the like additional to other features inherent in their packaging function which enable one or more display devices to be formed from them. The fittings may be liner elements, Fig. 25, and/or partitioning strips, Figs. 4, 30. In addition the carton may have a side wall printed on internally so that a panel may be partially freed by cutting and folded upwards to display both contents and indicia, Fig. 8. A liner 120, Fig. 25, normally providing inner side and end walls may be divided by cutting along lines 128, 131, 135, 138, 142 into panels 129, 132, 136, 139, 144, 147, Fig. 25, forming with the removed contents, display stands. The panels 132, 144 have slots 133, 145 so that when bent they may form easels to display other panels such as 136, Fig. 29. The panel 139 is apertured to fit over the contents, e.g. the necks of bottles 40, Figs. 27, 28, with a margin 143 carrying indicia folded down in front. A single bottle is stood on the panel 139 and its neck placed in an aperture 152 in a pressout portion 150 in the panel 147. The lower edge of the panel 147 is attached to the panel 139 and part 153 of the portion 150 folds down to display indicia. Top and bottom liner panels, Figs. 6, 7, 19, 35, 36 (not shown), may also be apertured and slotted to form similar display stands and easels. A side and end wall liner may have means to display more than one bottle in the upper tier, the press-out portion being omitted, Figs. 20-24 (not shown). The side and end wall liner need not reach to the container bottom but may be supported on shoulders on cross partitioning strips or alternatively it may be replaced by a narrow protective band supported on such shoulders, Figs, 3, 17 (not shown). Cross partition strips, Fig. 30, may be cut along the dotted lines shown to form display stands similar to those formed by the liner. Panel 191 fits over the neck of a lower tier of bottles with panel 193 cut off and re-attached to a longer edge to project downwards normal to the panel 191; bottles standing on the panel 191 have their necks in apertures 176 in a panel 175 and a panel 181 stands behind them with tabs 188, formed by folding back a flap 187 on line 186, fitted into slots 177 in the panel 175. This tab and slot arrangement is used in the liner of Figs. 20-24. Panel 179 forms an easel for displaying panel 172 in a further display arrangement in which panel 170 embraces the necks of the lower bottles and an upper bottle enters an aperture 169 in a panel 168 on which the easel is mounted. The container may have hand-holes formed by press-in tabs 30, or may have a series of finger holes formed by pressing in partially severed discs.
