Abstract:
A diverter assembly according to the present invention includes a generally horizontal conveying surface, a pair of flipper assemblies, and an actuator for substantially concurrently actuating the flipper assemblies to an actuated position whereby the flipper assemblies are collinear. A driven diverting surface is defined on each flipper assembly wherein an article on the conveying surface is diverted when the article contacts one of the flipper assemblies when the flipper assembly is in its actuated position.
Abstract:
A carousel according to the invention uses a number of smaller, less expensive drive units at different locations along the carousel path in place of a single larger drive unit of comparable capacity. Closed loop control according to the invention allows individual drives to be de-energized when the power requirements do not demand their usage. When not energized, the drives may be disengaged from the chain, such as by way of a linear actuator as described hereafter. Benefits of such a system include reduced mechanical costs, longer drive life, better redundancy/higher availability, correct drive power, lower energy use, closed loop system monitoring and reduced collateral damage.
Abstract:
In order to check hand luggage and other objects carried by persons, control stations are needed, which have a control unit, in particular an X-ray checking unit, a conveyor which extends through the control unit, a depositing point which is arranged ahead of the conveyor, and a removal point which is arranged behind the conveyor, for the objects and having transport tubs which can be placed onto the conveyor. Small objects and items of clothing are placed in the transport tubs and conveyed through the control unit for checking. A return conveyor for the transport tubs is arranged next to or below the conveyor which passes through the control unit, which return conveyor reaches from the removal point behind the conveyor at least as far as into the region of the depositing point ahead of the conveyor.

Abstract:
A conveying device comprising at least a first conveying element and a second conveying element, each of the first and the second conveying element comprising a wire harness box having opposing box plates, the wire harness box including a pair of front tabs and a pair of rear tabs, the front tabs extending from box plates generally normal to the rear tabs; and a cargo roller positioned above the wire harness box; and a universal joint having at least two degrees of freedom, the universal joint including a rectangular hollow yoke, each of the front tabs of the at least first conveying element and each of the rear tabs of the second conveying element rotatably fastened to the yoke.
Abstract:
The invention provides a conveying device (1) which is particular in that the conveying device comprises a plurality of conveying elements (2), where each conveying element (2) comprises a chain box element (4) in which at least one transport roller (3) is rotatably fixed such that rollers (3) arranged in adjacent conveying elements (2) define the conveying device transport plane, and that chain box elements (4) of adjacent conveying elements are interconnected in such a way that one conveying element may articulate in relation to adjacent conveying elements, and that at least some of the chain box elements in the conveying device comprise drive means directly engaging and rotating the transport rollers (3).
Abstract:
An novel apparatus and technique may be used to induct articles onto a conveyor comprising at least one conveyor belt that moves articles along a first path that extends in a first direction. The apparatus may be used to move an article along a second path that extends in a second direction, which is transverse to the first direction, to a first position above but not in contact with the at least one conveyor belt. After the article has been moved to the first position above but not in contact with the at least one conveyor belt, the apparatus may be used to move the article onto the at least one conveyor belt.
Abstract:
A transport system, in particular an airport baggage handling system, includes a container for receiving an article, a sensor assembly including an inductive sensor for monitoring a transport of the container along a transport path, and a screening device for completely scanning the article within the container together with the container. The container is provided with a marking in the form of a doped zone or a metal element so attached to the container body as to pass the sensor assembly in its response range for detection of the container. The container body is hereby constructed to allow scanning of the article together with the container body.
Abstract:
A transport system for transport of containers has a switch with an entry zone, an exit zone with at least two different transport paths for conveying a container, and a switch mechanism for selectively controlling the transport of the container to the transport paths. During their travel, the containers are supported by a support assembly, and aligned and advanced in a controlled manner in the entry zone by an alignment and propulsion mechanism. A propulsion and guide assembly in the exit zone is rendered operative in response to a transport of the container along the transport paths and includes at least two modules which respectively cooperate with the transport paths and are disposed in the exit zone below the plane of the support assembly. The modules are hereby so controlled that only the one of the modules is raised into a plane above the plane of the support assembly, when the container is transported along the associated transport path.
Abstract:
The invention provides a diverter assembly for transferring moving articles from one conveying surface to another conveying surface, comprising: a) a frame; b) at least one endless belt suspended between spaced apart pulleys supported on the frame, wherein the endless belt defines an unsupported belt span for contacting articles on the one conveying surface and transferring the contacted article to the another conveying surface; and c) an actuator operably connected to the frame to move the unsupported belt span in a position to contact the article moving on the one conveying surface to transfer the article to the another conveying surface.
