摘要: In a composter having a horizontally elongated rotating drum, material is fed into the drum through an opening in a stationary end plate having an annular marginal area which overlaps, in sealing relationship, an annular intake end wall of the drum. Material passes through a central opening in an annular exit end wall of the drum, and falls by gravity onto a cylindrical screen which is fixed to, and rotates with, the exit end wall. The annular end walls are in axial register with, and surrounded by, external trunnions on the drum which ride on pairs of supporting rollers. Frusto-conical rings are welded to the end walls, and to the inside of the drum at locations opposite the edges of the trunnion rings to reduce metal fatigue. The exit end rollers allow for axial expansion of the drum. The interior wall the drum is lined with a rubber.

摘要: A continuous composter is provided with self contained aeration zones so that air circulation is confined to any one zone to avoid transmission of bacteria through a composting tunnel. An inlet fan and an exhaust fan are provided for each zone and suction through the exhaust fan is provide stronger than inlet pressure so that gases do not percolate through the tunnel. Similarly water and leachate are removed from the system without contact with downstream composting garbage. Any recirculation of gas or leachate takes place only in the zone from which it has come.

摘要: A composting system with a digestion chamber, an auger shaft with at least one mixing vane, and a power unit. The power unit can be hydraulic and can also power a shredding unit and an input conveyor system. A barrier wall can be interposed between those elements and the digestion chamber. The digestion chamber can be divided into subchambers, and sequentially lower apertures can promote a progression of organic material. A malfunction sensor can sense a malfunction of the auger shaft, the shredding unit, or another component. A malfunction report can be provided, including to a remote receiver. The report can include a determined location of the composting system and can be directed to a selected receiver based on the malfunction. Fluids, including gasses and liquids, can be introduced by a supply source in combination with apertures along the auger shaft and/or a mixing vane.

摘要: The process of the subject invention may be carried out by means of two or more vessels. The vessels are arranged in succession such that the outlet of one vessel is located above the inlet of the next vessel in succession. At the bottom of each vessel is a moving floor which causes the organic material to move from the feed end to the discharge end of the vessel. Organic waste is fed into the first vessel and moves through each vessel in turn. As it moves from one vessel to the next it falls and as it does so it mixes and aerates. The process of the invention may also be carried out in a closed vessel having a number of compartments disposed end to end. Organic waste enters the upstream compartment, travels downstream through each of said compartments in turn and discharges from said downstream compartment. The waste is agitated at the outlet of each compartment while being impelled into the next compartment in succession

摘要: A recycle soil manufacturing apparatus is provided enabling paper/wood chips of finely cut paper and wooden materials to be efficiently changed to soil. A fermenter (1) comprises a paper/wood chip feeder (2) and a fermenter body (10). The paper/wood chip feeder (2) comprises a paper/wood chip supply port (3), a leaf mold supply port (4) and a helical conveyor (5). The fermenter body (10) comprises a helical conveyor (11) transferring paper/wood chips and leaf mold, heaters (14), water sprayers (15), opening/closing type ceiling portions (16) and ventilating fans (17). By being inputted with a signal representing supply rate of the paper/wood chips into the fermenter (1), a control unit controls heating rate of the heaters (14), water spray rate of the water sprayers (15), supply rate of the leaf mold, feed speed of the helical conveyor (11) and opening of the opening/closing type ceiling portions (16) to thereby realize respective predetermined values set corresponding to the supply rate of the paper/wood chips. The paper/wood chips in the fermenter body (10) are quickly changed to soil.

摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for composting of organic matter. A ram advances the entire mass of organic matter within the composting chamber to create an evacuated space in the composting chamber, which evacuated space is of substantially greater volume than the volume of an incremental inlet space. The incremental inlet space is a space in the composting chamber defined by a projection of an inlet opening into the composting chamber. After the creation of the evacuated space, a new charge of organic matter is fed through the inlet opening. The ram then moves this new charge of organic matter into the evacuated space in the chamber to join the existing mass of organic matter already in the chamber. The ram also lightly compresses the new charge to a predetermined density or porosity. Typically, the extent of compressive force applied to the new charge is less than that required to move the entire mass of organic matter through the chamber. In this way, the new charge remains sufficiently porous and uncompacted so as to facilitate drying with air which is circulated through the chamber. Once the new charge is sufficiently dry, the entire mass of organic matter may then be moved by the ram to create a new evacuated space in the chamber.

摘要: A temperature monitoring method and apparatus for monitoring the temperature within a mass of organic matter moved through a composting vessel. An elongated, stationary probe extends through the vessel from one end toward another end thereof. A plurality of temperature measuring devices are mounted along the probe. The probe may extend through a compaction ram and be provided with a sleeve for accommodating movement of the ram relative to the probe. A decoupling device provides for decoupling of the probe from a mounting base and an extraction device permits the probe to be extracted from the vessel for replacement thereof. The probe provides a method of monitoring temperature in the mass and a method of composting by monitoring temperature in the mass and regulating the temperature of the mass in response thereto.
