    摘要： A pipe insulation system includes a tubular core of fibrous insulation that is coated with a pliable polymer. The coated tubular core has a first longitudinal slit extending completely through the wall of the core and a second longitudinal slit in the inner surface of the tubular core that is opposite the first slit and forms a hinge that permits the tubular core to be opened and closed to place the coated tubular core about a pipe. Preferably, the coating has a water vapor permeance rating of 0.02 perms or less and the system includes a seal for sealing the first slit so that an outer surface layer of the sealed coated tubular core formed by the coating and seal has a water vapor permeance rating of 0.02 perms or less for use on cold pipe systems.

    摘要： There is provided an insulation kit comprising an inner waterproof layer for contacting a pipe to be insulated. On the outside of the inner waterproof layer there is insulation. Then, on the outside of the insulation there is a protective layer to guard the insulation from being damaged by rock, hammer blows, knife marks and the like. The insulation kit can be taken to the field and applied to the exterior of the pipe in a relatively short period of time. The electrical fusion wire can be activated by a voltage of 120 volts or 240 volts in about 12 amps. There results insulation around the pipe to be protected and which insulation provides an inner moisture-proof barrier; the insulation; and, a tough material to resist objects such as screw drivers, knives, rocks and the like.

    摘要： An insulation and corrosion protection system for a pipe includes a pair of elongated and cross sectionally semi-cylindrical segments of insulating material, and associated method of manufacture and installation. Each section of the insulating segments is made by wrapping a mandrel with an inner sleeve material, applying an elastomeric inner jacket, a layer of insulating material and outer jacket. A hinge is installed beneath the outer jacket for pivotally connecting the two semi-cylindrical portions of the structure. The insulating segment is completely encapsulated within an elastomeric jacket material to seal the insulating member. Before the insulating segment is installed around a pipe an elastomeric sealing material is applied to exposed edges of mating surfaces of the semi-cylindrical portions of the insulation segments. Then the semi-cylindrical portions are positioned around a pipe enclosing it. Bands are secured around the exterior of the insulation segment to secure its separate portions together for curing of the adhesive material. When the material has cured, the bands are removed and any exposed portions of the seam are then covered with an elastomeric sealing material. Adjacent ends of successive insulating segments covering a pipe system are joined with an adhesive and sealed to provide for continuous sealing of the pipe for isolation from the environment surround the pipe.

    摘要： A composite pressure sensitive adhesive construction contains a central release liner, a layer of an adhesive on each side thereof, and an exterior release liner on at least one of the adhesive layers. The central release liner and the exterior release liner contain release coatings on surfaces thereof which contact the adhesive layer. The composite construction may be made up in the form of a roll for easy dispensing or in the form of a precut tape. The pressure sensitive adhesive construction is generally useful for making any type of sealing connection wherein an initial releasable connection is desired. For example, the pressure sensitive adhesive construction may be utilized in sealing pipe insulating jackets wherein the exterior release liners are removed and the adhesive construction is applied to the opposite longitudinal ends or sides of the insulating jacket cover. The insulating jacket may then be stored until utilized whereupon the central release liner is removed, the jacket inserted about the pipe, and a sealing connection then made by pressing the two exposed adhesive layers together.
