    摘要: A scan converter, used in an imaging system, for inverting the R-.theta. format of stored data into a format compatible with video display. As the video display is scanned horizontally, the .theta. addresses are sequentially addressed by means responsive to the scan position. The switch points thus defined are updated within succeeding video lines in accordance with trigonometric relationships between the video lines and the radial lines. Means responsive to the scanning of a reference video line initializes the switch point values in accordance with respective intersection points of the displayed radial lines and the reference video line.The R coordinate is similarly initialized and updated in accordance with trigonometric relationships between the radial lines and the video lines.

    摘要: An improved electronically focused imaging system for focusing transmitted acoustic waves into a focal line and for scanning the focal line for waves either reflected or transmitted from an object of interest. The system includes N transducer elements in a transmitter array and N transducer elements in a receiver array. These 2N elements can resolve N.sup.2 locations on the object of interest. In one embodiment the transmitter array is pulsed through a delay line that is activated by two, independent, frequency varying chirp signals. In this embodiment the receiver array is focused to scan the focal line and to develop a rectangular raster so that the output of the system is viewable on an oscilloscope or a television screen. In another embodiment the transmitter array is pulsed by a delay line activated by one chirp signal and a 45.degree. raster is developed.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for processing ultrasonic echo signals employ intermediate storage and representation of the echo signals in the form of image vectors, such storage and representation proceeding independently of the scanning technique utilized to generate the image vectors, such that switching among various scanning techniques is permitted. The full length of each image vector is written into an image memory in column fashion, the stored vectors being read out as image signals in a format suitable for specific types of representation, such as on a television monitor, the format instructions being contained in a memory or generated by an arithmetic unit. Upon read out from the image memory, the geometric form of the ultrasonic scan is reconstructed in a position and form corresponding to the actual scan, and the ultrasonic echo signals are similarly represented at their true positions.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for representing ultrasonic echo signals arriving in polar coordinates which are obtained by means of a sector scan technique and which are intermediately stored for the purpose of subsequent display conforming to television standards alternately supply the echo signals to one of at least two complete image memories having respective two-dimensional matrix memory formats. The image memories operate an alternating buffer memories and eliminate the need for conventionally employed vector memories and horizontal memories while nonetheless permitting complete representation of the ultrasonic scans in the form of television images.

    摘要: A digital scan converter is provided with a programmable transfer function for video display of picture elements (pixels) using a main random access memory for storing a pixel array to be read out periodically for display, and to be selectively read out while scanning for updating with a value derived from an auxiliary random access memory addressed by the composite of an old pixel value to be updated and the new pixel value. Each memory location of the auxiliary memory stores a value derived from a table defining the transfer function desired for the entire range of new and old pixel values. An alternate transfer function is stored in a second block of the memory and selectively called out by a prefix set to a 1 or 0 in the most significant bit position of the composite address word.

For these respective vector locations, the pixel value is weighted, for example, 100%, 50% and 0%.

The lines radiating from the origin show the r, .theta. co-ordinates of A-scan signals derived from a radar antenna, superposed for purposes of illustration on the grid of pixels. The display data used to brighten an individual pixel is taken only from some, and not from all, of the A-scans which intercept that pixel. In particular, no data is taken from the portions of the A-scans which lie radially inwardly of the points 28 to 36, but data is taken from the portions of the A-scans that lie radially outwardly.

    摘要: A digital scan converter with an initialization circuit. The initialization circuit, for example, a dedicated circuit or a computer, relates each pixel in a converted image to two or more respective pixels which lie adjacent to it and which are selected from an original image which is generated by a scanner. The initialization circuit also calculates and makes available interpolation constants to be used in deriving the value of a given pixel in terms of its respective, adjacently lying, group of pixels. When the converted image has a raster scan format, a satisfactory image is obtained when the respective group of pixels consists of two pixels between which lies the pixel whose value is to be calculated. By predefining the relationship between the pixels in the converted and original images before actual conversion begins real time operation is achieved.
