摘要:
A computer priority interrupt system minimizes the computer time required to service the request of peripheral equipment. The interrupt system is priority structured with an interrupt identifier circuit which identifies the peripheral requesting service without requiring polling of all peripheral units. Priority interlocked gates, one associated with each peripheral unit, are connected in series in the order of priority. Request signals from lower priority peripheral units are passed through the interlock gate when the gates are enabled. Bistable circuitry associated with each peripheral unit blocks transmission of request signals from equal or lower priority units when the bistable circuitry is set. An encoder generates a code identifying the peripheral unit being serviced. This obviates the requirement for polling to determine which unit is being serviced.

An automatic counter which can scan either micro or macro sized objects in a field and provide both a visual display of the scanned objects as well as a digital count or measurement of the objects. A video camera is focused onto the sample and produces a video output signal which is processed and ultimately displayed on a video display together with an appropriate flag signal on each object identified. An aperture generator generates an electronic aperture signal whereby a particular area can be selected as to both size and shape and the selected area is displayed on the monitor screen of the video display. A compensation circuit provides additional counts to compensate for those cases where the entire area of a sample is not counted. An absolute area circuit provides a silhouette around each identified object and can provide an absolute measurement of the area within the silhouettes as well as a measurement of the total area of the selected aperture. A percent area circuit provides the area ratio count of the objects detected relative to the total aperture area. A size discriminating circuit allows selectivity of objects to be counted based on their size. A density circuit allows selectivity of objects to be counted or measured based on their optical absorption parameters. A special circuit determines and automatically adjusts to the optimum operating level. A circuit is available to provide size histograms of objects in the field of view. Further a three-way illuminating system is provided and utilized when operating in the macro mode.

The invention contemplates an improved method of electronic-image analysis within a field of raster-scanned subject matter in which each scanning line lying within the boundaries of an object to be evaluated supplies by means of a discriminator a binary signal corresponding to the line length between object-boundary intercepts for the particular line. The improvement involves production of a localized search signal synchronized with raster scanning such that the search signal is effectively located within at least part of the scan-line coverage of the object. The search signal is used to control for each scan line the delay time of the binary signal of the same scan line, said delayed binary signal starting an output signal, the delay time of said binary signal being so controlled that it lies between a scan line period T.sub.1 and a minimum time T.sub.2 and depends upon the time interval between the start of said binary signal and of said output signal. The output signal in each following scan line is started by the delayed output signal of the foregoing scan line or the output signal of the line just scanned, depending upon which signal starts earlier. The binary signal of each scan line is also separately delayed by one scan line period in order to produce an anticoincidence pulse when the thus-delayed binary signal and instantaneously produced binary signal fail to overlap. Finally, an evaluation-output signal is produced upon observation of coincidence as between the output signal and the anticoincidence pulse.
