    摘要: The present invention relates to means for sintering powdered glasses having compositions approximating the stoichiometry of cordierite (2MgO.2Al2O3.5SiO2) into strong bodies exhibiting low coefficients of thermal expansion and containing hexagonal cordierite as the crystal phase. Additions of minor amounts of K2O and/or Cs2O to the glass compositions are unique in imparting excellent sinterability at temperatures of 1050*C. and below, and yielding a body which retains a low coefficient of thermal expansion even after repeated thermal cycling to 1000*C.

    摘要: A hermetic enclosure for an electrical component, particularly for a tantalum capacitor, and a method of forming it is disclosed. A silver container is provided having an open end at which an outwardly protruding flange is formed. A quantity of sealing glass is sealed to a lead and formed into a bead about the lead intermediate the ends thereof. A metallic member having an aperture therein is provided and the bead is sealed to the surface of the aperture bordering portion of the metallic member. A silver ring is disposed on the surface of the metallic member and the peripheral portion of the metallic member is folded over and pressed into a portion of the silver ring to form a compression seal therebetween. This assembly is disposed adjacent the outwardly protruding flange of the container with the lead extending from within the container to the exterior thereof. The protruding flange is folded over the metallic member so that it contacts the exposed inner portion of the silver ring where it is hermetically sealed to the silver ring.

    摘要: A multiphase fluid collection and separation assembly including a container, means for closuring the open end of the container, a gel-like material having a specific gravity greater than at least one phase of the multiphase fluid to be separated, and an energizer member having a specific gravity greater than that of the gel-like material. The energizer member may be shaped to mate with a portion of the bottom end of the container and is dimensioned to permit the flow of the gel-like material between its outer surface and the inner surface of the container wall. The energizer member may be hollowed and may be provided with a plurality of longitudinally-oriented equally-spaced-apart ridges. A method of automatically separating and partitioning two differing-density phases of a multiphase fluid, is also disclosed; the method includes the steps of partially submerging the energizer member in the gel-like material, thereby maintaining the gel-like material in its initial position, and thereafter, initiating and controlling the flow of the gel-like material by moving the energizer against the gel-like material in response to the application of a centrifugal force.

    摘要: In a system producing stored digital words representing an optical image, a digital error correction system automatically corrects the video signal for shading. A television camera converts the optical image of a laboratory microscope slide into an analog electrical signal representing the optical image along a raster of scan lines. An analog-to-digital converter produces digital words representing the magnitude of the video signal at periodic times along each scan line. These words are stored to represent the optical characteristics of the image. In order to correct the analog video signal for shading error, digital words representing the pattern of the shading are stored in a digital memory. This memory is loaded during intervals in which the analog signal represents only the shading. During this time, the video signal is converted to digital words and stored in the digital memory. Thereafter, during normal operation, these digital words are converted to an analog error signal which is subtracted from the video signal.

The end portions of the fibers of the first and second bundles are disposed in a parallel relationship and the ends of the fibers of each bundle are disposed in a plane that is substantially perpendicular to the axes of the fiber end portions, thereby forming first and second bundle endfaces, respectively.
