    Abstract: An X-ray module includes; a housing; an electron gun that emits an electron beam inside the housing; a target disposed inside the housing and fixed to the housing, to generate an X-ray when the electron beam is incident on the target; a permanent magnet that is disposed outside the housing and deflects the electron beam by means of a magnetic force; and a heat radiating unit having a higher thermal conductivity than a thermal conductivity of the permanent magnet and thermally connected to the permanent magnet.

    Abstract: An apparatus comprises a charged particle beam source and a target (1) for a charged particle beam. The target comprises a concave outer surface which is at least a segment of a cylinder (2) having a periodically structured surface (4). The charged particle beam is directed parallel to the axis of the cylinder (2), with the distance of the charged particle beam from the surface being less than or equal to twice the period of the periodically structured surface (4) in a direction perpendicular to the charged particle beam. The width of the charged particle beam in a direction perpendicular to the charged particle beam and parallel to the outer surface of the target is less than twice the period of the periodically structured surface (4) in a direction perpendicular to the charged particle beam.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to X-ray generating technology in general, in particular, it relates to an anode disk element (1) for an X-ray generating device (21). The generation of electromagnetic radiation may be considered to be quite inefficient, since a substantial part of energy applied to a focal track is converted to heat rather than X-radiation. Thus, a limiting factor in the operation of X-ray tubes is the cooling of the anode element and more specifically the focal track. In the present invention, an anode disk element is provided, with an improved dissipation of heat from the focal track. Thus, the anode disk element may sustain increased heat while maintaining structural integrity. The anode disk element (1) comprises at least a first surface (2) and a second surface (3), with the first surface (2) comprising a focal track (4) and the second surface (3) comprising a conductive coating (5). The anode disk element (1) is rotatable about a rotational axis (6) with the focal track (4) being rotationally symmetrical to the rotational axis (6). The first surface (2) comprising the focal track (4) and the second surface (3) comprising the conductive coating (5) are adjacently arranged.

    Abstract: Air cooled x-ray generating apparatus is provided with a unitary vacuum enclosure having a rotating anode target and a cathode assembly for generating x-rays. The cathode assembly may be placed within the vacuum enclosure through an opening in the top wall thereof, and comprises a disk which completely covers this opening. The unitary vacuum enclosure and the disk form a radiation shield. A plurality of fins are disposed on the exterior side wall of the vacuum enclosure, and a shroud is attached to the fins to provide additional protection of ambient against radiation. The cathode assembly may be placed through a side wall of the vacuum enclosure. The additional protection against excessive radiation in this design is provided by a shielding member placed in proximity to the anode target. The shielding member extends from the side wall of the enclosure and is substantially parallel to the top wall.

    Abstract: An X-ray generating apparatus is provided with a unitary vacuum enclosure having a rotating anode target and a cathode assembly for generating X-rays transmitted through an X-ray window. The cathode assembly is placed within the vacuum enclosure through an opening in the top wall thereof, and comprises a disk which completely covers this opening. The unitary vacuum enclosure and the disk form a radiation shield. For increasing a thermal capacity of the unitary vacuum enclosure and installing the X-ray generating apparatus into a gantry it further comprises a mounting block which may be coupled to or encompass the unitary vacuum enclosure. The X-ray window is placed within the mounting block. A window adaptor may be utilized for the X-ray window installation.
