摘要： An improvement is set forth in a sawing apparatus having a workpiece support structure and an operator moveable electrically operated saw having a first normally biased off switch controlling application of electric power thereto, the switch being positioned to be controlled by the hand of an operator which controls movement of the saw. The improvement comprises a device adapted for gripping, positioning and clamping a workpiece relative to the workpiece support structure and a second normally biased off switch connected in series with the first normally biased off switch, the second switch being positioned to be controlled by the off hand of the operator while the off hand is utilizing the device. Since both hands of an operator must be holding onto normally off switches and since both switches are in positions removed from the area of movement of the saw blade, the operator is protected from accidently cutting himself. Yet, the device allows the operator adequate control of the workpiece being cut and further allows the radial arm saw to function as a ripping saw without interference.

摘要： The power saw cutting guide consists of a guide plate and preferably means to secure the guide plate against a workpiece to be cut. This securing means may include a press plate which may be bolted together with the guide against a workpiece. The guide plate is adapted to be cut to size by the first cut of a power saw guided thereby and will thus be peculiarly adapted to that particlar power saw. To facilitate this function, at least the outer extremities of the guide plate spaced from a saw guiding shoulder are formed of a material which may be easily cut by a power saw guided thereby.

The press plate and guide plate are positioned on either side of an object to be cut and are secured together by the two swivel bolt assemblies which extend along either side of the object. Pitch blocks are then inserted between the object and the guide plate to vary the attitude of the guide plate.

A holding mechanism is provided for securing a workpiece proximate a working tool to be radially sheared thereby. The drive arrangement includes a linkage system including a first link pivotally connected between the press slide and a second link which is connected to a driven crank. A third link is pivotally connected between the press frame and the second link. The several links are arranged to provide desirable kinematic and dynamic characteristics for a shearing press by developing a selected coupler curve at the pivot point between the first and second links, which coupler curve defines the movement of the slide, and accordingly the shearing blade, through the stroke of the slide.

A cam roll track may be provided for supporting one end of the mounting shaft for the transversely movable shear assembly during traversal across the strip material to take the load off the shaft, and electromagnets may also be provided to resist bowing of the rectangular shear blade for the vertically movable shear assembly resulting from separation forces created during shearing without having to provide a large superstructure therefor. The support for the transversely movable shear assembly may be mounted for pivotal movement to permit adjustment of the vertical clearance or overlap between both shear blades, and provision may also be made for adjusting the axial or lateral clearance between such shear blades.
