Abstract: Organic sulfur compounds contained in refinery off gas streams having either high or low concentrations of olefins are converted to hydrogen sulfides which can be then be removed using conventional amine treating systems. The process uses a catalytic reactor with or without a hydrotreater depending on the olefin concentration of the off gas stream. The catalytic reactor operates in a hydrogenation mode or an oxidation mode to convert a majority of organic sulfur compounds into hydrogen sulfides.

Abstract: Disclosed is method for removing carbonyl sulphide and/or carbon disulphide from a sour gas stream. The method comprises subjecting the gas stream to simultaneous contact with an absorption liquid, such as an aqueous amine solution, and with a catalyst suitable for hydrolyzing carbonyl sulphide and/or carbon disulphide. To this end, the invention also provides a reactor system wherein both an absorption liquid and a catalyst are present. In a preferred embodiment, the catalyst is a heterogeneous catalyst present on or in an absorption column, either coated on the trays of a column with trays, or contained in the packing of a packed column.

Abstract: A biogas cleaning method for purifying a biogas waste stream to form a combustible clean biofuel uses a biogas cleaning system that includes a gas control system, a deoxidizer catalyst bed, a hydrosulfurization catalyst bed, a hydrogen sulfide adsorption bed and a thermal sensor controller. The biogas cleaning method includes using a biogas source to introduce a biogas waste stream into the biogas cleaning system, blending hydrogen with the biogas waste stream, combusting the blended hydrogen and biogas stream to remove oxygen, hydrogenating the heated biogas waste stream to convert sulfur species to hydrogen sulfide and adsorbing the hydrogen sulfide from the biogas stream. In some embodiments, a biogas cleaning system also includes a sulfur polisher adsorption bed, a chlorine removal adsorption bed, a siloxane removal adsorption bed, a heat exchanger loop and a biogas precooler. Some embodiments of a biogas cleaning method can also include precooling the biogas waste stream, adsorbing siloxanes from the biogas waste stream and adsorbing hydrogen chloride from the biogas stream.

Abstract: Solvent absorption processes for separating components of an impure feed gas are disclosed. The processes involve two stages of gas purification. The acid gases including hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and other sulfur compounds are simultaneously removed from the feed gas by contact with a physical solvent in two stages. The subject matter disclosed provides improved processes to reduce the operating costs of the system.

Abstract: A class of water lean, organic solvents that can bind with various acid gasses to form acid gas bound molecules having a high degree of intramolecular hydrogen bonding which enables their use as regenerable solvents for acid gas capture. Unlike the other devices described in the prior art, the present invention takes advantage of shortened distances between the portions of the molecule that form hydrogen bonds within the structures when loaded with an acid gas so as to create a molecule with a higher internal bonding affinity and a reduced proclivity for agglomeration with other molecules.

Abstract: A system for processing a gas stream can include an acid gas removal unit comprising a first absorber unit, a compressor, and a second absorber unit. The first absorber unit is configured to receive a feed gas stream containing organic sulfur species and acid gas components, remove at least a portion of the organic sulfur species and acid gas components using a semi-rich solvent at a first pressure, produce a semi-treated gas stream, and produce a rich solvent stream. The compressor unit is configured to compress the semi-treated gas stream from the first pressure to a higher second pressure. The second absorber unit is configured to receive the compressed semi-treated gas stream, remove at least a portion of any organic sulfur species and acid gas components present in the compressed semi-treated gas stream using a lean solvent, produce the semi-rich solvent stream, and produce a treated gas stream.
