摘要: A printing system includes a printing apparatus and a computer. The printing apparatus and the computer each include a density setting section. The printing system further includes a data processing section, which is at least adapted to transfer printing density data for a predetermined printing object from the computer to the printing apparatus so as to set printing density on the printing apparatus and to transfer printing density data for a predetermined printing object from the printing apparatus to the computer in order to store the printing density data in a database. Since printing density can be set on either of the printing apparatus and the computer, for example, in a trial printing mode, printing density data are transferred from the database stored in the computer to the printing apparatus so as to set printing density on the printing apparatus, thereby enabling trial printing. When the printing density set on the printing apparatus is modified on the basis of the result of the trial printing, the modified printing density data are transferred to the computer to thereby update the database accordingly.

摘要: A method of determining the area coverages of a printing plate for controlling the quantities of ink in inking zones of a printing press, includes, to produce the plate from existing printed-sheet data, producing color-value printing data based upon a standard raster system, converting the printing data by a raster generator into rastered printing data, exposing the rastered printing data onto film material or a printing plate by an exposer, using various raster systems with different dot gains on the plate, in the raster generator, depending on the raster system used, applying an associated dot gain correction curve and a linearization correction curve to the color-value printing data, and supplying an area coverage calculation unit with coarse color-value image data derived from the color-value printing data, a dot gain correction curve for each raster system used, and correction location data describing in which areas of the plate which raster system is used.

摘要: A method of forming a pattern of a functional material on a substrate is disclosed. In accordance with the method, a first pattern of a first material is applied to the substrate and a second functional material is applied to the substrate and the first material. The first material, the second functional material, and the substrate interact to spontaneously form a second pattern of the second functional material on the substrate. The invention is directed to methods for spontaneous pattern formation of functional materials on substrates, and devices produced according to the methods of the invention. In particular, the methods of the invention provide a simple, inexpensive method for patterning a functional material on a substrate, with broad applicability to numerous devices.
