摘要： An improved flatwork concrete finishing apparatus includes a side-by-side pair of parallel spaced elongate brush assemblies, each brush assembly having an elongate head with a pair of upper corners or stops, a downwardly directed throat with opposing inwardly directed grooves, and a plurality of replaceable elongate blocks, each having at least one row of color-coded bristles with a stiffness different than the bristles of at least one of the other blocks. Each of the blocks have outwardly directed ridges adapted to be slidably received by the grooves. A plurality of corresponding pairs of brackets attached to each of the pair of brush assemblies are interconnected by a plurality of spacers pivotally connected thereto. Interaction between the spacers and one of the stops of each of the brush assemblies establishes the angular orientation of the brush assemblies as the apparatus is displaced across the flatwork in one direction, and between the spacers and the other stops of the brush assemblies establishes the equal but opposite angular orientation of the brush assemblies as the apparatus is displaced across the flatwork in the opposite direction. The pair of brush assemblies are adapted to be disassembled and interchangeably attached to a screw-on type handle or a push-pin type handle for small jobs.

Each grooving member is an elongated narrow body of approximately V-shaped cross-section with upturned forward and rearward ends for ease of pushing or pulling it through a pavement in a plastic state to form multiple parallel grooves therein for enhancing traction of persons or vehicles passing thereover. An approximately truncated V-shaped hollow handle receiver is secured to the upper side of the elongated plate in approximately perpendicular relationship thereto. The handle receiver thus has two outwardly-inclined arms, either or both of which receive the lower end of a handle so that one person or two persons may operate the groover by pulling it in opposite directions across or along the pavement, which may be either a roadway, a sidewalk, or the like.

摘要： Method and apparatus for forming grooves or slots in a concrete roadway are disclosed. A ribbed sheet of flexible material is positioned on the surface of a freshly poured concrete roadway and the ribs are impressed into the concrete. After the concrete has set and the sheet is removed, a plurality of parallel, skid-resistant grooves are revealed in the roadway. The flexible sheet is placed on and later removed from the roadway by rolling and unrolling it from a spool mounted on a construction vehicle. In one embodiment of the invention, a plurality of small holes are provided in the flexible sheet to aid in the drying of the concrete.

摘要： A method for forming non-repeating stone patterns in fresh concrete including preparing the surface of the fresh concrete by bullfloating and the addition of color, if desired, imprinting into the fresh concrete indentations representative of the corners only of the stones in the pattern, imprinting separately connecting grooves between the imprinted corners. The method may further include the use of a plastic overlay on the fresh concrete prior to imprinting so as to provide a well rounded edge to the formed stones. A number of tools for forming the non-repeating patterns are also disclosed. One of such tools is a walking tool including a flat platform having a plurality of apertures, a shaft rotatably extended through each aperture, a hub on each shaft below the platform on which the platform rests, a flange on each shaft engaging the top of the platform, a plurality of imprinting blades extending from each hub to form a group, the top of each shaft having an anvil head to be pounded, and at least one of said apertures being elongated to render one group of blades both rotatably and laterally adjustable for varying the stone patterns to be imprinted in fresh concrete. Other tools suitable for use with the method include an individual group of blades arranged in the form of the corners of the stone to be imprinted, together with a striking area by which the blades can be pounded into the surface of the fresh concrete.

摘要： Concrete pavement is provided with transverse grooves in its surface by a forming device having projecting parallel ribs that are pressed into contact with a concrete slab while in plastic or formable state and moved along the slab surface between opposite edges thereof to form parallel grooves in the surface of the slab. Retractable support forms are provided at opposite edges of the concrete slab to support the slab during the grooving operation. The forms have grooved upper surfaces aligned with the top surface of the slab, and the grooves in said surfaces conform with the ribs on the groove forming device, thereby allowing the device to be drawn beyond the edge of the slab. In the alternative, the forms may have a resilient upper surface to accommodate the ribs of the grooving device. The apparatus may include a mechanism for moving the support forms into proper position against the edges of the slab with each pass of the grooving device, as well as a mechanism for laying a strip of plastic material between the forms and the slab to prevent adherence therebetween.
