The downhole tool may include a housing, a mandrel movably disposed with respect to the housing, a holder configured to hold the gas lift valve, and an arm supporting the holder. The arm may pivot between a retracted position in which the holder is adjacent the housing and an extended position in which the holder is disposed away from the housing. The mandrel and the arm may be operatively connected via a pin-slot joint having a pin disposed within a slot. The slot may have a first slot portion and a second slot portion. The pin-slot joint may prevent the arm from pivoting when the pin is within the first slot portion and permit the arm to pivot when the pin is within the second slot portion.

    摘要: Systems and methods include a mechanical isolation device that comprises a sleeve, which includes a port for fluid flow between an internal bore of the sleeve and an inside of a tubular. A receiver positioned in the internal bore includes a first orifice at a first axial location on the receiver, and a second orifice at a second axial location on the receiver. The second orifice is either aligned or un-aligned with the port of the sleeve. The receiver is slidable within the sleeve to: (i) move the first orifice into alignment with the port and either move the second orifice out of alignment with the port or keep the second orifice out of alignment with the port; and (ii) move the first orifice out of alignment with the port so that a portion of the receiver covers the port to block fluid flow between the internal bore of the sleeve and the port.

A method can include connecting a bottom hole assembly to a wireline, the connecting including connecting the wireline to a cable head stinger of a cable head assembly; deploying the wireline and bottom hole assembly into the well; applying a tensile force to the wireline, thereby breaking a weak link of the cable head assembly; and then displacing the cable head stinger into engagement with a bushing of the release assembly, thereby permitting a dog to displace radially inwardly out of engagement with an internal groove in the release assembly.

    摘要: A downhole tool that includes a tubular member having a first interior passageway, wherein the first interior passageway defines a first surface having a first internal diameter and a second recessed surface having a second internal diameter that is greater than the first internal diameter. The downhole tool also includes a protective sleeve engaged with the second recessed surface, wherein the protective sleeve has a second interior passageway that defines a third surface having a third internal diameter that is substantially equal to the first internal diameter such that the third surface is substantially flush with the first surface. In one embodiment, the protective sleeve is dissolvable upon contact of a fluid having predetermined composition or predetermined temperature such that the sleeve dissolves to expose the recesses formed in the latch assembly.

    摘要: A method is disclosed of manufacturing a side pocket mandrel for use with a gas lift valve downhole on a tubing string. A plurality of separate components of the mandrel are manufactured. A face on at least one end of each of the separate components is configured for solid-state joining with a face on another of the separate components. Joints are then formed between the separate components by moving the face of at least one of the separate components in a solid state joining process relative to the face of at least one other of the separate components. For example, linear friction, rotary friction, or spin friction welding can be used by moving one of the faces against another. Also, an induction heater can preheat the ends to a suitable temperature to reduce the need for friction heating.
