The power transmission joint system has several components including a drive cup, a drive shaft pin, and a large contact area between the drive cup and the drive shaft pin. The large contact area is larger than a corresponding contact area of an existing low-cost pinned drive shaft, drive cup system. The large contact area significantly reduces pressure on the system. An equal velocity universal joint is suitable for coupling shafts, driving and driven shafts, of mutual machines and for use in an axial piston pump motor device. One ends driving pins of the equal velocity universal joint rotate along a predetermined locus on a concentric circle while rotating and sliding by themselves in the cylinder bores of the driving or driven shaft. Spherical head portions of the other ends perform rotating motion in cylinder bores or ball receiving bores of the driving or driven shaft. Accordingly, the respective drving pins continue linear sliding motion in response to the rotation of the driving or driven shaft and thereby the spherical head portions of the other ends are held at the concentric circle on the driving or driven shaft so as to keep the driving center in floating state. As a result, the respective pistons are driven on a concentric circle, thereby an equal velocity universal joint is realized and the mechanical vibration thereof is substantially eliminated.

A three axis flexure joint is provided which is very stiff against translational forces along its long axis but is operable with three degrees of freedom over small angles with no lost motion. The flexure comprises two spaced metal connectors, which are connected to each other by a wire which runs through the metal connectors along an axis and is integrally joined to each connector, and at least one snubber pin. The snubber pin snugly fits into a bore of one connector of the flexure, the bore being arranged to accept the pin and to be parallel to the wire axis, while in the second connector, the pin has a loose fit in a corresponding hole similarly located. In this manner, the integrity of the connecting wire is maintained as the pins act as stops to rotation if rotation of either connector around any of its axes exceeds a predetermined limit. The flexure is also preferably configured with each connector being a bolt or screw so as to permit easy connection of the flexure to rods and master and slave devices.
