A constant velocity joint vent for use in a constant velocity joint of an automotive vehicle. The constant velocity joint vent includes a body generally having a cylindrical shape. The constant velocity joint vent also includes a first axial channel on an inside surface of the body. A semi circumferential channel is in communication with the first axial channel on one end thereof also on the inside surface of the body. A second axial channel in communication with the semi circumferential channel on another end thereof. The vent also includes a diaphragm in communication with the second axial channel and the outer atmosphere. The vent will operate such that high pressure and high temperature gases are vented to the outer atmosphere while any contaminants or water are repelled from entering the constant velocity joint chamber.

A steering column slider shaft assembly includes a shaft and yoke assembly having yoke at a first end and an attached non-cylindrical shaft extending therefrom to a second end. The second end is engaged with a non-cylindrical tube which forms a second end of a tube and yoke assembly, the tube being congruent with and adapted to slidably receive the shaft and provide a slip fit therefor. The shaft and yoke assembly and the tube and yoke assembly each have interengaging provisions which are over-molded or otherwise attached, for sealing the slider shaft assembly. The interengaging provisions also serve to limit extension of the slider assembly to resist inadvertent separation of the slider shaft assembly during assembly of the steering column.

A sliding ring (30) in the bearing race (25) is supported in a bearing groove (27) of the double yoke (2) of the double universal joint (1). The guiding ring (18) is pre-tensioned by the folds (15) of the protective cone (13) and thus held in contact with the outer bearing face (26). The guiding ring (18) can be removed from the bearing assembly, thus making components of the double universal joint accessible for maintenance purposes, such as lubrication.
