    摘要: The invention relates to a slide projector with automatic slide changer and stationary slide magazines (10,11) on each side of the optical pathway of the projector, the respective slide magazine (10,11) provided in the shortside with a feed and discharge opening for slide frames (8) which is located in the focal plane of the slide projector. Between the slide magazines (10,11) a slide frame transport device is located, which consists of two toothed belts (2,3) provided with external dog members (7) for transporting the slide frames (8) from one slide magazine (10) to the other (11), and vice versa. In the projection position of the slide projector support members (12,13 and, respectively, 16,17) facing to the toothed belts (2,3) are provided for the slide frames (8). Levers (20,21) are provided behind the toothed belts (2,3) directly in front of the respective slide magazine (10,11) for inserting the slide frames (8).

    摘要: A microfilm reader with a projection system through which individual images on a piece of microfiche can be projected through a viewing screen. The reader has a base structure on which is mounted a carriage assembly which holds the microfilm and is mounted for horizontal movement relative to the base structure. A series of magnets mounted on the carriage assembly and base structure causes the carriage assembly to be magnetically held in predetermined positions. In one embodiment the predetermined magnetically held positions are identical to the distances between the individual images on the microfiche whereby images from the microfiche can be precisely positioned on the screen without the operator viewing the image on the screen.

    摘要: A reading device for viewing microfilms, transparencies, fiches, and the like, comprising a plate-shaped projection screen made of transparent material supported on a frame structure with the projection screen disposed in a slanted position relative to the horizontal. The screen has on the viewing side a frosted surface and on the opposite side prism-shaped parts. A source of light is disposed into the frame structure beneath a carrier for placing an article to be projected thereon. A mirror assembly is disposed in the frame structure to reflect light rays passed from the light source through the article to the prism-shaped parts and through the projection screen. The prism-shaped parts are disposed in lengthwise rows and have prism surfaces extending at an angle with respect to the opposite side of the projection screen for deflecting the light rays reflected from the mirror assembly so as to project an image of the article within an angle converging toward a viewer situated above and in front of the screen. The prism surfaces progressively increase from the lower end of the screen through the upper end of the screen to provide substantially uniform illumination.

    摘要: A film supporting and positioning system includes a film holding or gripping head for engaging an edge portion of the film and supporting the same in a cantilever fashion. The gripping head may include a frictional contact gripping arrangement or a vacuum head by which the film is held along one edge thereof. The gripping head is displaceable in a plurality of orthogonal directions so that the film may be inserted into and oriented relative to the image plane of an optical recording/reproducing system. In the vicinity of this image plane, a film support bearing is provided, in order that a prescribed region of the film, in which information may be recorded may be properly irradiated by a light beam. Preferably, the film support bearing is provided by a fluid bearing platen which is thermodynamically non-throttling.

    摘要: An electronically controlled photographic image utilization device is arranged to transport a roll of microfilm having all images printed thereon in separate photographic areas, each area being arranged in a microfiche-type format. The photographic image utilization device has an automatic call-up feature so that any given photographic area may be selected in a first dimension and projected responsive to the push of a button, the operation of a rotary switch or both. A special bar code is printed along the edge of the film and used in conjunction with a closed loop film control system to eliminate the need for precise, clock-controlled synchronization between the film transport and the code reading. Preferably, the bar code is read by optical electronic sensors. Responsive thereto, the electronic control system accurately positions a selected photographic image, on the microfilm, within a viewing area. Thereafter, and while the film transport is being held stationary, any image on the microfilm may be selected for projection by a manual movement in second and third dimensions of a simple lens positioning mechanism which is small, compact, and easily moved. The reader may also be operated manually so that the automatic controls may be bypassed, if desired.

    摘要: A slide magazine insertable in a side opening in a slide projector and comprising a plastic body with a continuous rail having two elongated sidewalls and two arcuate endwalls, and a cross-plate giving the body an H-shaped transverse cross-section. A grooved drive shaft is rotatably mounted within one arcuate endwall, and a plurality of plastic slide holders are slidably mounted on the rail, each having a dovetail-like notch in its inner side receiving the rail, two detent fingers extending toward each other on the inner side of the rail, and a slotted slide-holding frame on the outer side. The magazine body is divided into relatively movable end sections that are urged together by a spring for pressing the stack of holders toward the shaft, and the track is shaped to tilt the holders toward the shaft for positive pick-up of the detent fingers by the grooves in the shaft, to feed the holders around the rail, the grooves and the fingers having mating V-shaped cross-sections. Slideways span the gaps in the rail between the end sections to support the holders across the gaps, through the fingers, independently of the rail.

    摘要: A microfiche reader according to the present invention includes a housing consisting of a hood portion and a base portion, a screen located within the hood portion and visible through the front end of the hood, a combined microfiche carriage and index holder, a lens assembly and a projection system. The combined microfiche carriage and index holder serves to accurately locate the microfiche with respect to the index grid. By reason of the fact that there is no relative movement between the index grid and the microfiche in use, it is always possible to accurately locate the microfiche with respect to the projection system by reference to the index grid. The index grid is illuminated by an index illuminating lens carried by the housing. The illuminating lens is located in a fixed relationship with respect to the projection path which again contributes to the facility with which the microfiche may be accurately located in the projection path. The lens assembly includes a support plate mounted above the microfiche carriage and a slide member mounted in the support plate and a pair of lens members mounted in the slide members so that either one may be located in the projection path as required. The projection system includes a demountable modular unit which may be easily mounted in and removed from the housing. A prefocussed lamp is mounted on the modular unit and the position of the prefocussed lamp with respect to the modular unit may be adjusted so as to vary the length of the illuminating path between the prefocussed lamp and the condenser means whereby the optical system may be adjusted to accommodate objective lenses having different characteristics. The projection system consists of a prefocussed lamp which projects a beam of light onto a cold mirror which reflects the beam of light through an optical condenser which in turn directs the beam of light through the microfiche to an objective lens mounted thereabove. A first surface mirror is mounted in the housing and reflects the beam of light emitted from the objective lens to a viewing screen mounted in the housing. The viewing screen consists of a unitary body of molded plastics material having an image receiving surface formed with a concave spherical curvature. The image receiving surface may be plated with a suitable coating to form an image reflecting coating thereon.

    摘要: A slide projector for use with magazines of the flexible type in which slides are supported for movement around a closed-loop path and are swingable one by one into and out of a slide-projection station about an axis defined by a rotary drive shaft. The magazine has individual clip-type slide-holding elements that slide along an endless path and have frames in which slides are held. A condensing lens is mounted and guided for movement from a normal operating position close to the slide-projection station and in the path of the slides, to a retracted position out of the path, with a combined reciprocating and swinging motion, and is moved back and forth by a rotary crank mechanism that is driven by the slide-feeding mechanism, to shift the lens rapidly out of and back into the operating position during each slide change, with a dwell in the retracted position for the change.
