    摘要: A fluid bearing platen for a film gate structure contains a pair of cavities to which pressurized fluid, such as air, to be applied against the opposing surfaces of a photographic film, is supplied. Between each respective cavity and one side of the film there is disposed a thermodynamically non-throttling material, such as porous stainless steel, through which the pressurized fluid from the cavities passes, to be directed against the opposite sides of the film. The non-throttling material effectively creates an adiabatic transfer from the cavities to the film's opposing surfaces, thereby eliminating temperature loss and avoiding the wrinkling or warpage of the film.

    摘要: A film supporting and positioning system includes a film holding or gripping head for engaging an edge portion of the film and supporting the same in a cantilever fashion. The gripping head may include a frictional contact gripping arrangement or a vacuum head by which the film is held along one edge thereof. The gripping head is displaceable in a plurality of orthogonal directions so that the film may be inserted into and oriented relative to the image plane of an optical recording/reproducing system. In the vicinity of this image plane, a film support bearing is provided, in order that a prescribed region of the film, in which information may be recorded may be properly irradiated by a light beam. Preferably, the film support bearing is provided by a fluid bearing platen which is thermodynamically non-throttling.

The device includes signal processing circuitry for processing a corresponding signal developed from an accelerometer. The signal processing circuitry has acceleration processing circuitry for calculating a press acceleration signal, a velocity processing circuitry for calculating a press velocity signal, and displacement processing circuitry for calculating a press displacement signal. Display circuitry is used for displaying at least one of said calculated signals. A multi-contact switch connect the acceleration, velocity, and displacement processing circuitry together permitting an operator to select one of the calculated signals for input to the display circuitry. A method of utilization of the device is also described.

    摘要: A high power vacuum tube 10 has a cylindrical body 16 and a plurality of radially extending fins 18. A cylindrical wall 20 is co-axially disposed about the body and the fins, thus defining an air channel between the body and the wall. To cool the tube, air is forced into the channel from an entry port, and leaves the channel through an exit port. The cooling capacity of the system is optimized by contouring the entry and exit ports to minimize aerodynamic drag. In one embodiment, the entry into the channel is flared outward and a cone assembly 42 is provided adjacent the longitudinal end of the body 16 nearest the exit port. This cone assembly thus forms a continuation of the body 16 which tapers to a smaller cross section in the direction of air flow. The cone assembly may be formed of a stack of discs 70 of successively smaller diameter. The exit port, which may have either rigid or flexible sidewalls, has a venturi shape to further reduce drag.
