    摘要: A method of identifying an object comprising providing an vehicle having on a surface thereof at least one layer of paint, such as a urethane-based paint. A unique alphanumeric identification is applied to the paint layer with a fluorescent material at a selected unrevealed location thereon. The fluorescent material is permitted to migrate into the at least one paint layer, while an excess amount of fluorescent material remains on the at least one paint layer. Thereupon, the excess amount of fluorescent material is removed from the at least one paint layer with a solvent. The unique discrete identification created by fluorescent material migrated into the at least one paint layer is visible at an acute angle to the object surface without use of an ultraviolet light, while being substantially invisible at an angle normal to the object surface.

    摘要: In a method of labeling housings of electronic assemblies, and especially electronic assemblies used in motor vehicle systems, at least some of the identifying indicia are applied directly as a deformation on or in the outer surface of a wall of the housing. The identifying indicia can be formed by laser etching of the housing surface, stamping of the housing surface, or forming the identifying indicia directly in the injection or casting mold used for molding the housing. The security and reliability of the labeling is improved because the identifying indicia cannot become detached from the housing as in the case when all of the identifying indicia are provided on a separate label plate or sticker. Additional identifying indicia, such as an optically scannable bar code, are printed on an adhesive label including a peel-off strip, and the adhesive label is affixed onto the outer surface of the housing.

    摘要: There is provided a thermal transfer type emblem made of thermoplastic synthetic resin comprising three-dimensional design elements made of a flexible thermoplastic synthetic resin sheet as well as a method of manufacturing the same. Design elements formed with a design printed in color on the surface are bonded to the underside of a carrier film and a hot-melt type film is bonded to the lower surface of each of said design elements. If necessary, a synthetic resin adhesive layer is provided therebetween and said hot-melt type film may be bonded to a sheet of releasing paper at the underside. By appropriately selecting materials for the hot-melt type film and the synthetic resin adhesive layer, the flexible and three-dimensional emblem can be so made as to firmly adhere to an object by simply pressing the emblem with an iron regardless of the material of the object.

    摘要: A collectible trading card made of embossed metal, and a boxed set of such cards. The card advantageously combines two mediums, metal for appearance and durability, and cardboard which affords high quality printing. In particular, the card includes a generally rectangular metal substrate having front and rear sides, and a cardboard insert sheet adjacent the rear side. The metal substrate includes a central main portion, four edge marginal portions terminating in respective substrate edges, and four corner marginal portions. The marginal portions surround the central main portion, sharing respective boundaries therewith, and are rolled towards the substrate rear side and around such that the substrate edges contact the insert sheet so as to hold the insert sheet in position. The rolled marginal portions together define a continuous bead around the periphery of the card without any exposed sharp edges. A boxed set includes a plurality of such trading cards, received in a storage tin within which there are a lower card support member having a plurality of channels for receiving the lower edges of the trading cards, and a pair of side card support members, each also having corresponding pluralities of channels for receiving side edges of the trading cards.

    摘要: A mark indicator comprises a transparent substrate; a recessed portion formed on a rear face of the transparent substrate and having a tapered shape widened on an open side thereof and having the shape of an indicating medium; and an indicating layer of the indicating medium disposed within the recessed portion. An alternative embodiment comprises an indicating substrate composed of a transparent material; and an indicating layer member disposed on a rear face of the indicating substrate and including an indicating layer having the shape of an indicating medium and substantially a trapezoidal shape in cross section, and a transparent layer disposed in a portion of the indicating layer member except for the indicating layer and substantially having the same thickness as that of the indicating layer. A method for manufacturing a mark indicator comprises the steps of forming a projecting portion in a molding die; setting a film and an indicating layer within the molding die; and flowing a transparent material into the molding die. An alternative method for manufacturing a mark indicator comprises the steps of setting, within a molding die, a film and an indicating layer member which includes an indicating layer and a transparent layer; and flowing a transparent material into the molding die.

    摘要: This disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing a sign or similar article by providing a wooden substrate having an upper surface; providing a laminate formed by several plies including a ply of sandblast-resistant material, an adhesive, a ply of vinyl, another adhesive and a carrier ply; cutting the laminate to form a template of a desired configuration and applying the template to the upper surface of the substrate, sandblasting the upper surface of the substrate which removes an upper surface strata thereof which is exposed to the sandblast material while unexposed surface strata is uneffected, and thereafter removing the sandblast-resistant ply from the vinyl ply forms a permanent upper covering/indicia/design atop the selected area of the substrate unaffected by the sandblast material.
