摘要： A recording medium cartridge including a case with two main surfaces which are disposed substantially parallel to each other and side surfaces which connect the main surfaces. An opening is provided on one of the side surfaces which is disposed toward a direction in which the recording medium cartridge is loaded into the drive device. A through hole is provided on one of the main surfaces. A cover member opens and closes the opening and is urged in a closing direction in which the cover member closes the opening. A cam member is mounted on the cover member. When the recording medium cartridge is loaded into the drive device, an engagement pin disposed at the drive device passes through the through hole to move the cover member in an opening direction.

摘要： A lever fixing apparatus of a cassette housing has at least one lever for connecting a cassette holder to a chassis and at least one snap fixing unit for connecting the lever to at least one of the cassette holder and the chassis in a snap manner to hingedly fix the lever thereto. The lever fixing apparatus can fix the lever to the chassis without using additional coupling parts. Accordingly, the number of processes for assembling the cassette holder to the housing bracket can be reduced and the working time is saved, thereby the productivity being increased.

摘要： A deck chassis assembly for a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus, in which some parts may be sub-assembled for independent operation, comprises a base chassis mounting a moving deck therein. The base chassis includes integrally formed sidewalls at opposite sides thereof to mount and receive the moving deck. A housing chassis has sidewalls of which opposite ends are rotatably connected to ends of the sidewalls of the base chassis, and a link member is interposed between the housing chassis and the base chassis to enable the housing chassis to rotate a predetermined angle relative to the base chassis in an opening and closing manner.

摘要： A tape cartridge includes a case, which is made of a lower case and an upper case, for accommodating a reel wound with a magnetic tape. The lower case includes a bottom surface disposed with two positioning holes formed separately from each other on a straight line orthogonal to a direction in which the tape cartridge is loaded into a drive device. The lower case also includes a front wall disposed with two surfaces for regulating a depth to which the case is loaded in the drive device. The two surfaces are positioned on straight lines that pass along the loading direction through the center of the positioning holes when seen from below. Positioning pins of the drive device are inserted into the positioning holes when regulating protrusions of the drive device abut against the two surfaces to regulate the depth to which the case is loaded.

By means of a switch mechanism the drive member and the driveable device are in contact with each other for driving the driveable device into a stand-by position when the information carrier in the cartridge is in the state of treat and vice versa. The switch mechanism and the loading mechanism are combined to form one single unit.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for moving a tape cartridge with respect to a read/write head in a media system, wherein the tape cartridge includes a tape stored on tape reels. The apparatus includes a housing having a base, and a plurality of flexures extending substantially perpendicularly with respect to the base and having first and second ends. The first ends are attached to the housing. A deck is configured for holding a tape cartridge with the tape exposed at one end of the deck. The deck is attached to the second ends of the flexures. The flexures are sufficiently flexible to allow movement of the deck with respect to the base for moving the tape toward and away from the read/write head. A shuttle interlock mechanism is positioned between the deck and a movable shuttle for selectively locking the shuttle with respect to the deck to prevent damage to the read/write head. A substantially H-shaped flexure connects the deck to a vertically movable motor plate to prevent backlash.

摘要： A compact tape autoloader fitting within a 51/4" form factor is disclosed. The tape autoloader moves a read/write head into close proximity with a selected one of a plurality of tape cartridges stored in a magazine. The tape cartridge is then moved a small distance for read/write operations. The tape cartridge is retained/released by a cartridge retaining mechanism. A picking mechanism engages the tape cartridge for movement to/from the magazine. A clamping mechanism clamps the released tape cartridge into a specific location in alignment with the read/write head. A cartridge door opening mechanism opens a tape cartridge door so that the tape can be brought into engagement with the read/write head.
