    摘要: In a delay equalizer having a plurality of quadratic all pass networks for equalizing the delay characteristics of a circuit, the automatic adjustment of the value of Q of each quadratic all pass network when calculated through the asymptotic formula ##EQU1## CAN PROVIDE PERFECT DELAY EQUALIZATION, WHERE Q.sub.i.sup.k is the value of Q of the i'th quadratic all pass network, and .alpha..sub.i is the step size parameter of i'th quadratic all pass network. Before applying said formula, the delay of the circuit to be equalized at the center frequency of each quadratic all pass network is measured, and said formula is calculated according to the result of the measurement.

    摘要: An equalizer for partial response signals is described which is constituted by a shift register and an analog adder, from the output of which a corrected signal is produced. Two of the switching stages forming the shift register have their outputs connected to inputs of an additional analog adder, and one of these shift register stage outputs is connected to the analog adder over an adjustable amplifier. The output of the additional analog adder is connected to a correlator, the value of the output signal of which controls the gain of the adjustable amplifier.

    摘要: A transmission line simulator which is capable of simulating a variety of transmission lines. In addition to simulating the specified characteristics of these transmission lines, the simulator is also capable of simulating a number of random transmission line effects which are especially important to digital data transmission. Among these transmission line effects that can be simulated are phase jitter, frequency shift, amplitude hit and/or drop out, harmonic distortion, phase hit, broad band and impulse noise. Each of these effects can be simulated along with simulating delay and attenuation of one of the transmission lines. The amplitude, frequency and timing of the random effects can be varied by an operator, or, if desired, omitted. As a portion of the simulator disclosed herein, a novel line simulator is employed for simulating specified characteristics which are attenuation and delay. It is made up of a number of operational amplifier filters whose filter characteristics can be electronically switched to simulate a variety of different characteristics such as the different line characteristics available from the common carriers.

    摘要: A filter for a telecommunication system, designed to suppress a signal frequency F.sub.a and to transmit an adjoining frequency F.sub.b without significant attenuation, comprises a resonant cavity of prismatic shape longitudinally traversed by a conductive coil wound on a hollow dielectric core into which an adjusting screw is inserted. One end of the coil is grounded at the cavity wall while its other end is left unconnected and forms with the adjusting screw a variable capacitance C.sub.d with distributed constants; a lumped-constant tuning capacitor C.sub.1 is connected between ground and an input lead connected to an intermediate tap on the coil, the inductance L.sub.2 " of that lead and the inductance L.sub.2 ' of the coil portion between the tap and ground forming an inductive voltage divider bridged by the lumped-constant capacitor C.sub.1. The remainder of the coil, lying between the tap and the unconnected end, forms an inductance L.sub.1 which together with the distributed-constant capacitance C.sub.d shunts the portion L.sub.2 ' of the inductive divider and forms a series-resonant circuit tuned to frequency F.sub.a ; the combination of voltage divider L.sub.2 ', L.sub.2 " and lumped-constant capacitor C.sub.1 constitutes a parallel-resonant circuit tuned to frequency F.sub.b.

The frequency equalizer system of the present invention includes a plurality of potentiometer controls for adjusting the frequency output in each of the eleven major separate octave bands which cover a range from approximately 20 Hz to approximately 20,000 Hz. The frequency equalizer system of the present invention includes an operational amplifier with each of the aforementioned potentiometers connected across the equalizer in feedback relationship. Moreover, each of the potentiometers operate in conjunction with a unique resonance circuit in order to achieve the desired frequency adjustability of the octave bands.

    摘要: A system equalizer and a method of equalization employed in a repeatered submarine cable system, in which automatic gain controlled (AGC) submerged repeaters are employed to compensate for fluctuations of the cable loss caused by the temperature fluctuations in the surrounding environment of the repeatered submarine cable system. In a terminal equipment connected to the repeatered submarine cable system, the seasonal misalignment of the repeatered cable system is equalized by a switchable equalizer having a loss-frequency characteristic corresponding to the total of compensation errors in the AGC submerged repeaters. Short-term level fluctuations of the repeatered cable system are compensated by an automatic equalizer, which has a loss-frequency characteristic proportional to the square root of frequency f and is controlled by the level of a pilot signal transmitted through the repeatered submarine cable system. An unknown fixed deviation is finally equalized by a second adjustable equalizer.
