摘要: An electromagnetic door holder comprising a wall-mounted electromagnet and a door-mounted armature portion. The armature portion includes a pivotally supported armature element capable of being moved in substantially any direction on a supporting plate which is adapted for mounting upon the door. The armature element includes an apertured flange, and the door-mounted support plate includes a bifurcated portion for receiving the flange, with a fastening bolt passing through aligned apertures in the opposing leg elements of the bifurcated portion. A pair of nylon bushings is employed, one on either side of the aperture in the flange, and each of the bushings has a generally spherical outer configuration enabling it to be pivotally supported between a respective one of the bifurcated portions and a screw-adjusted retaining means. The frictional resistance to movement of the armature element may be adjusted by the screw so that it will tend to retain the position to which it is last moved, thereby permitting adjustment of the armature element in such manner as to lie perfectly flush against the electromagnet.

摘要: Logic circuitry in a vehicle transportation system, such logic circuitry providing fail-safe operation utilizing solid-state circuits. The logic circuitry is described relative to control of a highway crossing indicator, such circuitry selectively producing a most restrictive output signal or a least restrictive output signal in accordance with traffic conditions to the crossing indicator. A vital signal is generated that is characteristically differentiated from other signals in the circuit. The vital signal is serially transferred through gate circuits by corresponding enable signals to each gate circuit. When and only when the vital signal has been transferred along a path of gate circuits and through the logic circuitry, the crossing indicator assumes a least restrictive mode of operation.

摘要: An automatic train protection system is disclosed for automatically operated vehicles. This system is not based upon the steel wheel riding on a steel rail and therefore is capable of use with rubbered tired vehicles. A single signal rail carries train detection current and train signaling current. Brushes, mounted on the vehicle, contact the signal rail. These brushes provide a shunting path to shunt train detection current away from the signal rail for train detection. The current shunted away from the signal rail by the brushes is utilized on the train to indicate the proper operation of the brushes. The signal rail is sectionalized or divided into blocks with one detection relay for each block. The relay contacts associated with blocks in advance of a particular block are combined in circuits to select proper vehicle command signals in accordance with traffic in advance of the vehicle. A vehicle command generator provides a plurality of commands for the vehicle. The contacts of the detecting relays select the appropriate command for the vehicle in accordance with traffic conditions in advance of the vehicle. The vehicle commands are communicated to the vehicle over the same signal rail and through the same brushes which form a part of the vehicle detection system. Five different commands are generated by the wayside equipment and capable of being transmitted to the vehicle. Three of these commands are speed commands and each contains a speed limit for the vehicle and a velocity command for the vehicle. The two other commands are stopping commands. The stopping commands differ in the distance the vehicle is controlled to travel after receipt of the command, before it comes to a stop.

摘要: A track quality meter for determing ballast resistance of a track section, regardless of whether or not the track section is insulated. An oscillator produces a signal at an appropriate frequency which is applied to the track section. Detector means, connected across the track section, is responsive to the voltage across the track section. From this voltage the characteristic impedance of the track section can be determined in a number of ways. In a preferred embodiment, the signal applied across the track section is also applied across a variable resistor. By adjusting the variable resistor so that the voltage across it equals the voltage across the track section, the resistor value is a measure of the characteristic impedance of the track section at the frequency produced by the oscillator. The characteristic impedance of the track section has a number of parameters, but only the ballast resistance in the track section is variable. As a result, the ballast resistance for the track section can be read off a calibration table.

摘要: A system and structure is shown for detecting and responding to differences in potential which may exist between a reference potential which will be referred to herein as reference ground and one or more of a plurality of other metallic objects. A pair of grounding conductors is used for each object and an indication is obtained if the difference of potential between the end point of the two grounding conductors connected to the chassis of the associated object, and the reference ground, exceeds a predetermined value. An indication is also provided if the loop formed by the two grounding conductors and the chassis exceed a predetermined resistance value. The indication of the difference of potential is an indication of the potential difference between the various metallic objects, or chassis, in the system. The measurement of the loop resistance value is a measurement of the ground wire integrity and assures that the requisite low resistance exists for accurate potential difference measurements. Working in combination the measurement provides an indication of whether or not the environment is an equipotential environment and/or the difference in potential between any particular object and the reference ground.

摘要: A buzzer structure, of the type comprising a housing having a coil unit therein and an armature mounted for vibratory movement adjacent the coil unit, includes an integral portion of the housing which is bent inwardly into engagement with the coil unit to fix the spacing between the coil unit and housing, thereby to determine the dimensions of the gap between the coil unit and armature. The spacing and gap dimensions are adjusted, after the buzzer elements are assembled, by energizing the coil unit, applying a force to a portion of the housing to progressively deform it to displace the coil unit in engagement therewith, and monitoring the magnitude of current flow through the coil unit while simultaneously monitoring the sound output of the buzzer to determine when a proper operating point has been reached, at which time the progressive deformation of the housing and displacement of the coil unit is immediately terminated.

摘要: An automatic rake is provided for a bar grid which bar grid is mounted in a flume adjacent a waste disintegrator. The rake is preferably provided with a plurality of fingers extending between the bars of the grid and is reciprocated by a motor and is provided with a second motor member which is adapted to lift the rake away from the bar grid if an obstruction is met. Automatic means are provided so that when the obstruction is sensed, the rake will reverse itself and go to the bottom of the grid again. The arrangement is such in combination with a waste disintegrator that the material from the grid will be raked into the path of the disintegrator to be pulverized therein.

摘要: An analog-digital converter circuit that converts electrical input signals, representative of such variables as voltage, current or resistance, into time-impulse signals. The converter circuit as disclosed is designed to accept various input signals for example, signals representing values between 0-5 volts, 4-20 milliamps, 10-50 milliamps, 0-25 kilohms. Signals of this character are converted into time-impulse signals whose pulse width is adjusted to be directly proportional with the magnitude of the input signals. When the aforementioned analog input electrical signals are so converted they are then adapted to be transmitted great distances via telephone lines, or radiomicrowave communication links, without distortion. Such form of output signals are adapted for transmission in connection with certain time-impulse telemetering systems, for example, a system known as the Chronoflo system. When used with such Chronoflo system, a 0-5 volt signal would be adjusted to give a 0-13.333 second pulse, whose repetition cycle would be 15 seconds. The converter of the instant invention includes provision for accepting various input signal levels and for modifying the output time-impulse signal to conform to a variety of timeimpulse formats. Another provision which is included is a masking of the input signals which occur below a prescribed level. This masking of input signals below a threshold prevents spurious signal generation due to low level noise at the input.
