摘要: A method, apparatus and system for transferring data from an apparatus called multi-protocol gateway in a network seamlessly that operates using a particular protocol, to another device that is either in the same network or outside operating in a totally different protocol is described. Today, to accomplish this requires external units, one per technology. For example, for supporting both WiFi and WiMAX devices today, we would require a WiFi access point, a WiMAX base station and a router. We provide plug-ins that would handle multiple protocols within the same gateway, to cater to devices that operate in those protocols. The apparatus translates between various protocols in the back end making it inexpensive and portable. The unit is scalable, grows with technology, and acts as a gateway to a local network. The device can be configured to address Quality of Service, Priority between technologies and fault-tolerance through management layer.

It is thereby possible to perform communications using the most appropriate communication route among a plurality of transmission schemes even in the case where an application is not compatible with the data format or protocol of the most appropriate communication route.

摘要: A network node, computer program, computer-readable medium and method for fail-safe data transmission in a network, in which data packets are transmitted from a sender to a receiver via redundant paths, upon which resources for the transmission are reserved at participating network nodes utilizing an identifier associated with the relevant path, wherein, if a new path is to be found for at least one of the paths involved, then the previous reservations on all redundant paths are maintained, a new redundant path is determined for the at least one path involved and an attempt is made to reserve resources for the transmission on this new redundant path at the participating network nodes, wherein a new identifier associated with the new path is utilized, and if the new reservations on the at least one new path are successful, then previous reservations on the at least one previous path involved are removed.

摘要: Systems and methods for selecting tiering protocols based on data transmissions over mesh networks within defined spatial areas can be provided. A mesh network can be established within a defined spatial area. Each network device within the mesh network can be a user device or a supernode. Further, a wireless communication link can be established between the user devices and supernodes. A plurality of tiered protocols for tiering data transmissions can be accessed. Data to be transmitted over the mesh network can be analyzed to determine which tiered protocol to select. Path data that identifies a routing path from the a user device to a supernode can be generated, and the data can be transmitted according to the path data.
